Forgeofwar Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Do I use the power one, or the cunning one for a sniper I switch between leth and mm! ty =]
NotRonin Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Cunning all the way for snipers, regardless of spec.
Wrthlessnoob Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Yeah, any class that is able to talent up their main stat, should use mainstat augments.
NoTomorrow Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Yeah, any class that is able to talent up their main stat, should use mainstat augments. Especially when you have a 9% main stat talent
RikuvonDrake Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Just a little tips here, for PvE feel free to use the Advanced Skill Augment 21, saves you almost half a million on augments/kits at the low cost of only 14 endurance. Edited January 4, 2013 by RikuvonDrake
Rurban Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Just updating this thread , so I had all cunning augments and was nailing about 1650 on average with 2335 cunning, I went through and changed all my augments to power last night and with the same rotation I was nailing about 1750 to 1800 on the parse with a crit rating of about 39% (315) so I would say once your around 300 crit and 2100 cunning , stack power . By switching out all those augments it brought up the dps by 100 to 150 more .

I have to agree with NoTomorrow on this one, I think you just did better after the switch. 1650 DPS is pretty low on a dummy with that level of stats (unless you really screwed up optimization) so you had a lot of room to make up.
Rurban Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Nope didn't do anything different to my rotation . Check this out though , with a +41 crit crystal I parsed 1724 in 6 minutes , with a power crystal I parsed 1725 with a 6 minute parse. Now granted that's only 1 dps difference BUT that makes you really think harder about Diminshing Returns from crit. Also when I changed those cunning augments out with the power augments , primary damage and bonus damage went up by 20 . Try changing out a few augments to power and see if you guys see a difference . Orbital strike alone when I hover over it says almost 8k in over so many seconds now vs the 5k + it said before I changed those augments up . Even in a few post on here it says cunning gives you .20 to damage and adds to your Crit . where power gives you .23 to damage so that alone is 1 cunning augment gives you 3.6 damage , a power augment gives you 4.14 per augment . Worth checking into guys .... Edited January 4, 2013 by Rurban Misspelled
RikuvonDrake Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Please upload the parter from both your use of cunning and your use of power or it's hard to trust you.
Tibbel Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) Check this out though , with a +41 crit crystal I parsed 1724 in 6 minutes , with a power crystal I parsed 1725 with a 6 minute parse. Now granted that's only 1 dps difference BUT that makes you really think harder about Diminshing Returns from crit. Crit's diminishing returns are well-understood. Besides that, 1 DPS is well within the margin of error based on just those 2 data points. For comparison, running 1000 5-minute simulationcraft trials (i.e. no variation in execution) seems to result in a margin of error (for 95% confidence) of ~2 DPS. (Here's an example.) Also when I changed those cunning augments out with the power augments , primary damage and bonus damage went up by 20 . Try changing out a few augments to power and see if you guys see a difference . Orbital strike alone when I hover over it says almost 8k in over so many seconds now vs the 5k + it said before I changed those augments up . Worth checking into guys .... It's true that power contributes more to "bonus damage" than cunning does (although that difference is greatly diminished when taking into account group buffs). However, cunning also gives crit chance (on a separate DR from crit rating), whereas power does not. In the end, cunning is better than power by somewhere between 10-20%, depending on spec, gear, and ability selection. Edited January 5, 2013 by Tibbel
NotRonin Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 . Orbital strike alone when I hover over it says almost 8k in over so many seconds now vs the 5k + it said before I changed those augments up .. There must be some mistake. 8k orbital strike = 1150 bonus damage. I don't think that can be reached with the current gear without using a relic. 5k on the other hand is way too low. It should be around 7k.
