ObiJuanShenobi Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 A buddy of mine wants to return to the game, but only as F2P. On the F2P chart, it says there is a 350k credit cap. She had over 5 mil before she unsubbed. If she logs in as a F2P'er will she have lost all of those credits?
tankthing Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Those credits will be held in escrow. They won't be available unless she resubs. I'd advise logging in to see if the game is worth playing again, if so, sub one month and buy all the quality of life account unlocks off the gtn with that 5 mil, then go back to f2p and rock out with it.
Daelenn Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 1: If she used to be a subscriber, she'd restart her account as a preferred status player. 2: All credits over the cap are placed in "escrow", which means they are not lost and can be accessed if she becomes a subscriber again.
ObiJuanShenobi Posted December 23, 2012 Author Posted December 23, 2012 Awesome, thanks for the responses!
Shingara Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 i thought it worked on a tumble down effect, max credits is 350k at one time but you continue to get more credits but the max you can spend is 350k, but if you spend 350k the next bit of money you have drops down into place and so on and so forth.
Jesslyn Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) i thought it worked on a tumble down effect, max credits is 350k at one time but you continue to get more credits but the max you can spend is 350k, but if you spend 350k the next bit of money you have drops down into place and so on and so forth. I had hoped for the same. Sadly, as someone who has experienced preferred status, I can say with confidence that it does not work that way. There is also a (somewhat outdated) developer FAQ post that has more detail on escrow. To my knowledge, the escrow information is still valid. The link is here, but this is the pertinent part (emphasis mine): Nilrem: How often does your escrow account refill your Wallet as a F2P? Blaine: I assume we are talking about the credit escrow in-game for Free-to-Play and Preferred players. If that is the case, then let me clarify the functionality here. As a player reaches and then exceeds the cap, the in-game credits that are earned after reaching the cap are placed in escrow. The funds in escrow stay in escrow until you become a subscriber (or if you move from F2P to Preferred status, then the cap is increased and 150,000 credits are released). If you reach the cap, then spend coins, the money stays in escrow and you refill your balance by earning credits in-game to reach the cap again. This escrow thing frustrated me quite a bit when I was looking around for information on it, so I wanted to be as helpful as possible here! Edited December 23, 2012 by Jesslyn
Shingara Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Thats sickening, this game is not a f2p at all is it, i feel sorry for the f2p and premium players as they have there arms twisted to subscribe or else, if its not the passes costing more then subs for a month its this. And now bioware going back on there word that f2p players can play the entire story in f2p will be broken in spring when they have to drop $20 to complete the story.
