Lium Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 ...are you a bit fearful? That's a serious question, by the way. I play a lvl 41 sentinel and there are some classes that I dread facing in WZs. BH and sorcs top the list. But I notice in the sub-50 bracket, people either run from my sentinel or go get help. Especially in ACW. And I'm only a so-so PvPer. No one really knows me on my server except my guildies. So, it's not like I have some sort of reputation as being good or anything. I think it's just the class. I'm curious what your opinions are on facing sentinels in warzones.
Chuckbobuck Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 i hit ion pulse 14 times in a row and either live or die. vanguard!
mulzii Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 i look forward to them leaping me nowadays, to be honest. There are so many of them, the chances that its a crappy one is high. Plus its nice to hear them rage if i 1v1 them on either my sorc or my merc, as most seem to think that the leap and 1 gcd should be enough to kill me, and i'm breaking Lucas's 1st law of Star wars 'though shall be instantly killed by a marauder or sentinel' and i must be hacking or something...
epicfear Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Simple: Force push them back to where they were, then I force charge them back. Juggernaut!
vimm Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Nah, it's an easy class to kite. I play every class.
Ardim Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) No, I'll just stay calm and simply beat the crap out of you with my superior tactics. I play every class except for Sage and Shadow (Because I refuse to play a Consular due to the horrible outfits ), though since I play their mirrors and since I've seen the skills a ton of times, I know their strengths and weaknesses. DarthRaika Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 The only problem is that there are so many of them that pvp becomes boring at times. Imo what makes pvp in mmos fun is all the different classes you face but in swtor it is pretty much 70% warrior type classes in many matches (and I love playing my sent and jug btw). BTW by war type classes I mean sent/jug/ptech/tankasin. These all fit into basic warrior classes in many other mmos.
HuntersPoint Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 My main is a sentinel, I rarely go against other sents/maras, unless I see a lolsmasher trying to burn down our healer.
Solarenergy Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) Well, occasionally they will catch me out of cover and leap to me, but truthfully I'm never afraid of them, because snipers are made to counter everything about them. Therefore they are the class I have the easiest time with and I don't panic against because I know exactly what to do and how to counter them. So yeah they are probably the only class that I truly have no trouble at all with. The ones I'm wary of on my sniper are the stealth. Usually sentinels/marauders will avoid me anyway since I'll be in cover and they can't leap so that will discourage them. But when they do engage, I'm always ready for them, and most of the time I beat them without breaking a sweat. In fact, I think their fear is us snipers/gunslingers knowing that we're the only class that can counter them perfectly well, well the smart ones anyway. Many of them are idiots (FOTM rollers) that play the class because they think it's so OP and they can just smash anyone and everyone with it. Those are the ones who don't have the sense to not approach a sniper, because they think their class means PVP god mode and don't know much about mechanics and how the sniper's mechanics counters theirs. Those are also the ones that are the most satisfying to beat. Edited October 11, 2012 by Solarenergy
Yeochins Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Enter cover, knock back, win. Cloak, Obfuscate, Ravage, Win.
kweassa Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Enter cover, knock back, win. Gunslinger/Snipers are like free kills for Combat/Carnage.
HuntersPoint Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Gunslinger/Snipers are like free kills for Combat/Carnage, Anni/watchman. fixed
foxmob Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) ...are you a bit fearful? I'm curious what your opinions are on facing sentinels in warzones. i love it when a sent/mara leaps to me. I can punt them away, and they can't leap back cuz they just burned it. never leap to a ranged unit unless you've just been punted. waaay too many dual wielders do that. makes it very easy to re-establish separation. and there's nothing you can do about it. you don't have any hold the line -type abil. if you must use a gap closer to start, i'd recommend the 4s stealth as a closer. or not. all good. 95% of sents/maras are embarrassingly easy kills on my fail *** commando healer. Lium Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 Strange seeing all the snipers post. I have very little trouble against them. The only classes that consistently own me are bounty hunters and sorcs. Everyone else I feel like I'm able to handle. But this is sub-50 I'm talking about, so I'm sure it's different at max level.
Darth_Acherus Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I usually think to myself.... oh man not another one.
Rerkk Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) ...are you a bit fearful? That's a serious question, by the way. Depends on the sentinel/marauder.. a few make me worried but i can still get them 9/10 of the times 1v1. Simply :force push, leap, combat focus, sweep, stasis Guardian! Edited October 11, 2012 by Rerkk
GARhenus Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 when a sent/mara jumps at me it dies in like 5 seconds worth of focus fire because i'm always next to my teammates when alone i take advantage of my cc and burst him down/run away if i think he's too much for me to handle on my own (not always successful tho) when it's my brother's sent leaping at me i go to his room and punch him in the face... jsut kiddin i love my little brother
HelinCarnate Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) Enter cover, knock back, win. This, kick you in the nads. Gives time for aimed shot to fire off which will knock you back a ways, follow up with leg shot so you are rooted the instant you land, then sabatoge charge so that the root does not break right away. Then call in flyby on myself, then hunker down. For most of the unskilled players that roll on mara/sents they tend to stay away from snipers/slingers on 1vs1 battles. Sure there are ways to counter everything there but it is really sad how many people do not use them. Edited October 11, 2012 by HelinCarnate
HelinCarnate Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Gunslinger/Snipers are like free kills for Combat/Carnage. Only those that don't know when/how to dodge or knockback or root or stun.
Leafy_Bug Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 No matter the bracket, the sentinel will always run away for the hp buff or to his healer. It happens to me when I am with my vanguard, he leaps, does his rotation, i take him down, he pops cloak and comes back when 2-3 attack me, he does masterstrike, I die, he is the best sentinel ever . Same with level 50. TOFN has a few sentinels and most of them harrass you in wz. When you take the time to dance with them and simply kill them, they cloak and run away. If you solo one 6 times he will actually bring 3-4 on you because he cannot beat you otherwise and then spit on you when they all kill you. Sentinels, class designed by Usain Bolt
TheronFett Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 ...are you a bit fearful? No. Most of them are bad, and are usually Watchman spec. As Carnage, I just burn through their HP like a hot knife through butter while they try to stack their cute little DoTs on me.
hockeyrules Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Lmao to all of you snipers.. A smart sentinel has no problem countering your stuns and attacks. Most of you are too busy to notice us approach, therefore we don't have need to force leap. Simple you push back, we camo, you arrogantly think we ran away, we jump ( for combat spec) prec slash master strike, crippling throw, leg slash, blade rush, blade storm, and stasis. You're fried after master strike. That's my favorite finisher rotation for you.
Devlonir Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Funny actually.. to see so many now say they have most problem with Sorcs/Sages. I remember pre 1.4 the Sorc/Sage had very little chance against the well played/geared PVP Marauders. All our answers were useless or too slow for their enormous burst on our light armor. I think the major PITA for Marauders now about Sorc/Sages is the improvement on the bubble-burst mezz to become a stun, as well as Wave/Overload now being fully instant, as well as the 30m stun now being 10m meaning it is more often still available for that annoying charing marauder/sentinel. Is this a correct observation? Because if so, this is one major kick in the jimmies for everyone who complained about Sage/Sorc changes for 1.4 :-)
Joesixxpack Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) For any of my toons on either faction "No". It's common these days to get leapt to, but much rarer to find the leaper is much of a threat. Until recently my first thought was usually "aw ----". Now my first thought is to laugh merrily.
