Consular needs a better looking wardrobe!

This is not a huge priority compared to all the other stuff that needs to be looked at, I know. But I like my characters to look good when I play them. Nobody likes to play a character that doesn't look good. That being said, I have a jedi sage & shadow, as well as sith Sorcerer & assassin. Both sith characters look infinite amounts better than either of my consular characters, and my sorcerer is only lvl 12. Granted the consular does have a few select things that look nice, but everything I get for my sith looks awesome! I would like to see some more, nicer looking options for the consular. And maybe even a cosmetic system, so if we find a look we like, we don't have to get rid of it when we get a better piece of armor. Just a little suggestion. And like I said before, I know this is low on the priority list, but still something I would like to see.

i agree.

sadly this has been pointed out for a long time and isn't just limited to the consular gear either but consulars are the worse of the four imo.

i am not saying to make them the same color but a dark blue with silver, white with black/ blue, and etc with no pads would do a lot. the color schemes implying a peaceful serenity look isn't eye catching nor appeasing. the bland grey and brown monk look is even worse.

perhaps in time it will happen as there are more important issues to be resolved now.

I agree. One, they made really bad decisions in the end game gear. It's the rare bird that actually likes the current Ops looks.

Two, they locked customization into an expensive process that is also used to optimize stats. bad idea. the two should have been separate.

Three, they had poor initial design for Op gear and the set bonuses ( which for most classes are big enhancements). they fixed this, but not at a level that your average player (who would probably be more interested in customization) can actually access that change.

They need to completely rework that system. Sadly I don't see that happening.

I really just hate all the head pieces consulars get, especially while leveling up. They are all terrible looking and appear to be originally designed for chicks.

And now this is made even worse since the hide head slot option doesn't even exist anymore...so now we are forced to run around looking ridiculous in the bad headgear or we can just not wear headgear at all. I don't like either option. Either give me good looking head pieces or give me my hide head slot option back

The hide headgear option has been working fine for me. I never had any bugs with it and I believe the fixed most of the existing bugs with 1.4.1

Oh really 0_0 I don't even have the hide head slot option in my preferences anymore...did they move it or something? I checked in my social tab just yesterday and the option wasn't even there...I would love if I could find it again. Even when I could find it, after 1.4 my option never worked, and after 1.4.1, it has vanished entirely. Maybe I'm just overlooking it.

It's on the character sheet along with 'Unify Colors'

it seems to me like much (not all) of the consular gear was designed for female characters, theres a lot of consular gear that makes my male consular look like a straight up inter-galactic drag queen. the monk themed looks however, i actually rather like. Edited by joshbyrd

Yes, burn all the headgear in a large pile of horrible, although I don't think they look good whether the charactyer is male or female characters.

There are some nice bits of gear, to be fair. I like the robes I got from Cademimu flashpoint. It's the higher level and especially end-game gear that is particularly horrible.

Force Volatile ? I used to run with Enshrouding Force Robe which has stricly the same look the Volatile Force one has and I would like to wear it again when I have an armoing with set bonus.

The hide headgear switch is on the character page, with the unifying color option.

About the consular gear. It's not "girl" its just that the consular was only designed as sages. So the robes, the long and ornamented dresses and silly looking = aristocratic headgear. For the sage as a "wizard type" character it's actually OK (but still there is the timeless

issue :D ) but when the shadow comes into the picture, a melee character and a tank it becomes absolutely out of place.

My shadow wears the republic dancer's top and the elegant skirt though I dislike the flap attached to the shirt. Why that was attached to the top I will never know. Colors need to be added. You should be able to have your character wear a color you like. I would prefer green and that would work in the scheme since Corellia jedi wear green.. Edited by ScarletBlaze

That would be a nice idea. Allow people, even non-crafters, to buy dyes for their gear.

And your comment about wearing the dancer's top and elegant skirt reminds me of the Vanguard Tank I did a heroic with on Hoth who was wearing the full Elegant set. She actually looked quite smart.

I don't like the republic dancer set. It's just a pinky slave dancer (pink even worse than the original gold) and looks just as degrading as a slave dress should.

On the other hand I do like the imperial dancer version, my inquisitor uses that since the very beginning :) Looks just right for the witch :].

For my shadow main want something like Master Satele's dress since the beginning of the game. Not exacty the same but something around that line. Long armored boots, pants, sleveless or short sleve top. There is some piece I would glad to have unfortunately its a medium armor top (the famous Aspiring Knight's the only open piece I know in republic side :\ ) and a medium armor boots from the light side vendor.

Head gear is terrible but I gave my guy awesome hair so I will always hide it, I don't really think a consular would wear headgear anyways. And I also wish there was an option to cosmetically use any gear you had equipped before while even if you sold it while equipping the new gear you find for stats, sucks that you have to look like whatever you find especially when there's not many good looking pieces for consular.

I'm fine with the robes, some of them look great. Would like though if there was more variation though, all the bottoms look so similar (just more skirts).

Yea I think it would. The dancers shorts though a little too much for me I like the top just wish they would remove the flap and I been arguing for colors for a long time (and don't think I will stop anytime soon lol).

I have taken the republic dancers top (Not the shorts don't like them) and combine them with another skirt and like the look (minus the color or the flap lol). I would like the option to change the color . I like purple lol. The color on the dancers top is a rose so not too bad but would prefer purple lol.

I not sure what the people had in mind when they designed some things except please give me a break brown YUCK! It would be better and more customarization if we could choose our own colors.

My sith inquistior wears the imperial dancers top (again can't stand the pants that come with it) and is using the elegant skirt just don't like the color. I would prefer a red on my inquistior as with my black hair the red would look better.

I can live with most of the gear, but the only thing I will always disagree with is robe skirts, I think they look a bit poncy and makes more sense on female characters, trousers would be much better and perhaps a bit more of an armored look for the Consulars, E.G. shoulderpads, metal gloves etc, And a lightsaber hilt that actually changed the look of the hilt, not the stats

Here is another one agrees. I like the simple robe and hood--trousers would be nice as well. Though, I wouldn't mind the occasional flashy outfit. When on with my sage I sometimes take a look at what there is to where down the road--and I don't tend to be too excited about it. Perhaps we should post some pics of what we would like to see. Unfortunately, I have limited artist skills and would only be able to resort to stealing pictures off a search engine picture-search. Anyone?

I'm leveling a new Consular toon, and this time I've been putting my entire crew in the blue Social I formal wear from the Coruscant vendor.

When Qyzen and I were running around Taris we looked like a couple of Star Fleet officers :)

I never liked it too much when a game ties game stats to their appearance. Sure back in the ninties that was a great thing "wow, if you equip that item it actually changes the way you character looks". That was because hardly anything did back then and characters were a very limited cloud of pixels.

The problem with that is not primarily that it limits the freedom of choice but the way it makes designers try to make them ever more fancy and forget about anything they now about style. The characters should feel larger than life, so let's just build towers of useless style elements, that completely distort their look and makes them appear like nothing but a bunch freaks with an ego problem and no taste at all.

The only game with stats tied to apparel where I characters could look fine I can think of is Lord of the Rings Online, where apparel is tied to the item progression as well. Since they introduced appearance tabs there I could actually make my elven huntress look as I pictured, they had very well made elven armor sets. With fine details, a clear line and yet still appearing artful. (My criticism does not include games in which stats are not usually tied to apparel In games like EVE Online, Champions Online, The Secret World, it's no problem giving your character a decent look in accordance with the style those respective games have and never has been)

I wear a Muse/Traditional Demicot outfit (looks identical, yet the one is crafted whereas the other is bought from commendations or looted). Looks a bit like a mokking of a military uniform and bright white, something that a despot in a banana republic would wear. But it's acceptable.

But since the day I first saw what the Tionese/Columi/Rakata gear for consulars look like I have kind of given up hope. Of course you don't have to look like that anymore if you don't want to anymore - but the mere fact that the designers kind of believed that this is what a high level consular should like proves that they are beyond betterment. The game won't ever change in a way we can have our Star Wars characters look what we like them to. There won't ever be simple Jedi Garments of the kind that Obi-Wan wears in the movies. The designers are simply not capable of that.

There is just no way of making them understand that when it comes to looks more layers, more props, more attachments and fancier and bigger meaningless details doesn't necessarily make it better. There is beauty in simplicity, but that though eludes them entirely.

I get your point, but Consulars look like idiots because they have to stick to basic items, compared to the OTT designs of the other classes, Compare The Jedi to the Sith counteprarts, and you will find the Sith looking already much better at levle 10 than a Consular at lvl 50, we should have our own freedom on choosing whether to be an armored ****** or a skillful monk
