Foxinator
First of all I love this game and have been playing it since Beta although I have been confused on why Bioware is falsly advertising classes, I have been seeing this more and more as the game gets older. The first example is on the main page of this website there is a Marauder (Two Lightsabers) wearing heavy armored robes which look cool but are for Juggernauts. For real marauders can only wear medium armor which doesn't look anywhere near as cool as Jug gear.. Why does Bioware insist on making false pictures showing medium armored classes wearing heavy armor or visa versa or showing there robed armors with a mask and a hood up? Also in the it shows the marauder wearing these really cool black robes which again you can only get as a juggernaut... false advertisement isn't cool although other than that I love this game. Hiniba
That video came out, let alone was made, in April of 2011. So there's roughly 2/3 of a year before the game was released. I understand they keep it on their main website and it isn't accurate 100% on what you can do but I would hardly call it false advertising. I mean should they pretty much redo those videos everytime an attack's animation is changed as well? Yes you were deceived about being able to wear a specific armor set, but the idea is to understand the jist of the class and it's advance classes: Sith Warriors are melee saber wielders. Marauders get 2 sabers and can be a little stealthy and stuff while juggernauts get one saber and get to be tough. Perfect summary? No but it's a decent idea for someone who isn't willing to research in the slightest (including reading the character creation info)

Take a look at the AC description for a Shadow, for example. There is nothing in the game that replicates the robes in the photo. Why is it there? Certainly website photos are not complicated to change. With the black and gray robes, the Shadow certainly looks about right, though. Kilikaa
This is a non-issue. You were never promised the gear you see in the vids/pics. If Bioware promised you that all the gear pictured would be available for you to wear THEN you could claim false advertisement. They never said anything close, to the best of my knowledge. Styxx
Check your Legacy vendors. Most if not all gear from trailers / official pics is in there. A bit pricey, but hey... who`s looking at money when you can look so FABULOUS?

Alec_Fortescue
Hold on OP, I am gonna make a compilation of PLAYER CLASSES advertised in the gear which is not available in the game (but probably will be in a Cash Shop...). I am annoyed by the fact they advertised hood down robes for Jedi all the times and there is none in the game! Seriously good looking armor sets/robes in the pictures/videos and like 90% of them is not available! Presenting PLAYER CLASSES and putting an emphasis their outfitting is advertising and a promise that we will get to wear that if we'll play that class. That was the point of ARMOR PROGRESSION videos! I feel deceived. I feel like it is false advertising of sorts. Edited October 8, 2012 by Alec_Fortescue
Lord_Karsk
What about the first jedi knight class video, the girl in the battlelord armor that actually have the hood down and no dumb metal plate on the back. And the fabric in the back on the robe is straight. But ingame the set look like crap compared to that video.Wonder what happen and what blind monkey took over after those videos were made and change the armors for the worse, and gave them all hood up.Epic fail. http://www.swtor.com/info/media/trailers/jedi-knight Edited October 8, 2012 by Lord_Karsk
Alec_Fortescue
Don't forget that during the character creation screen Jedi knight gets this beautiful white armor covered with a brown robe with a hood down. It is the only class right now which doesn't have an access to the character creation robe! And it is in the game, it exists on our character when we are creating it! why can't we find it in game at a later stage?

That was done months before the game, so I wouldn't call that false advertising. It's not the same as marketing the CE by saying there will be a vendor with a ''dynamic assortment of items''. And THAT is not a description from months ago, that is from the actual description from the CE...

With the black and gray robes, the Shadow certainly looks about right, though. That same set can be found in game, just not in those colors, as far as I've seen. Although it's possible they are there in the form of blue/green items. I wouldn't exactly call having the same armor in different colors false advertising. Where is this picture? I can't find any consular pictures where the character is wearing black and gray robes. It still has the metal plate in the back in the video, and any time you're in combat the robe falls straight between the two legs, like she was. It might be a good idea to add that to the list of NPC items we'd like to have available to us. There was a thread somewhere that devs had asked us to list items that are currently only available to NPCs that we'd like to get as well.
Wraiven
The OP has a point. Just because people want to be passive about it and say things like, "It was never promised to you...blah blah blah" does not make what the OP said any less valid. No matter *what* the Devs do to this game, I can make excuses for them too...does not mean I am right. Stop being the good little passive sheeple and take notice. Ekas
http://www.swtor.com/holonet/classes/jedi-consular/shadow Thanks. I saw that picture, but had to be sure that it was the one we were talking about, because that looks to me more like dark brown and light brown than black and grey. But anyway, that gear is definitely in the game, as "mariner" gear, level 15 light armor greens. Would be good to see the Jedi Knight character creation armor available in the actual game, though. LordSkyKnight
You want to know something funny? Not only was a lot of gear stripped out of the game before it went live but also a lot of abilities from certain classes. I can think of three off the top of my head. 30m Saber Throw from the sentinel, force push from the sentinel as well. The sages had an ability that force lifted a target into the air and slammed it back on the ground as well. GONE!

Things get replaced and changed during development. Do you expect them to go back and change all pre-release footage and screenshots just because it was changed slightly? However I do consider it dishonest that they continue to put up new images with things that can't be done in game. There is an image of an assassin with a mask under his hood next to HK-51. There is an image of a Jedi in Battlelord armor with his hood down standing next to HK-51.

Alec_Fortescue
I am 100% sure that they already have many hood down variants of existing robes. They should add them at this stage, not wait until the cash shop. We deserve it. We paid for it. It was advertised that we'll get them. Armor progression videos are in fact advertising and presenting to you what the chosen class will be able to wear! Black hole update added new chest pieces for Torvix heroic but they were all hood up and ugly. They should put in orange versions of current orange hood up armor pieces. They surely have other things ready for cash shop as well but existing versions deserve free of charge hood down variants. What's so difficult? They have the models/skins done already! That's just a very bad move to make every single Jedi armor hood up... I tried playing a Guardian twice. First time I stopped at level 30, second at level 18. I just can't play a Jedi who looks like that. What about the character creation armor?! Knights are the only class which doesn't get its character creation screen armor set. What the heck? And it's clearly wearable because our characters have it on them. Just put it in as a random drop already!
