Balancing the "balance" debate PVP vs PVE, how to end the arguements.

There seems to be debate about which should take priority when it comes to balance in the game. Some feel PVP should be priority while others feel PVE should be priority. I feel that bioware can have both parts of the game balanced and here is a suggestion/thought of mine as to how it could be done.

As it stands there are currently different results when using abilities among the difficulty levels of NPCs and Players. This has a large advantage over flat results from abilities, so to put it simply create alternate effectiveness on abilities that are deemed too strong or too weak in pvp against enemy players than against NPCs. The PVE side of the game would be uneffected and the PVP side would find a way to gain balance without always effecting the whole game. This concept may involve more work and could be complex I don't know how the abilities are currently rigged and I'm no programmer but it seems to me that this could be the solution to everybody's woes as to which side of the game should take priority.

Personally i would have a seperate skill tree for pvp except maybe for a healing tree. Now with my sage alt i have to go to 10 meters to stun a targer which is kind of dumb since its a ranged class. First pvp change that really has annoyed me for pve.

With the seperate skill tree you can basically make all the changes you want to that skill tree

Well if you just make adjustments to the pvp effect of individual abilities you wouldn't need to create an entirely different set of skill trees which seems a bit excessive at least if I understand what you're saying. Also if you had to switch trees for pvp and pve then what happens to open world pvp while questing? I just don't see that working too well. As for the 10m stun range it's a nerf so of course it's annoying however it might be a bit better at 15m for some of the abilities as 10 isn't much room (especially with some of the skill delays), but at least the sap abilities are still 30m. I played for the PvE Story MMO that this game was pushed as, not the pvp.

For those in pvp there are always those that excel in that area, as there are many average class players, and even a chunk of permabads. I can guess who has EA's ear.

Look at the difference in the armor sets and the bonuses that distance the playing field.

Look at PvE raids wanting you to get the Recruit Armor set as it is better than the 2 tiers of raid gear, Rakata and Tionese.

This is a problem that is widened further with the nerfs to the AC's that affect both the pvp and PvE game play by intern dev teams that have no clue and do not even listen to the testers.

EA cares nothing for this game or it's players and all of their ceo's should have been replaced or fired for their short sight and having given up on this game as Fail 4 months after release.

The Fail is EA's head ceo's word, not mine.

First "PvP only" patch, which, except for the reduced stuns it doesn`t break anything.

Tionese was on par with Recruit. Now, recruit MK-2 is on par with Columi. But it cannot compete with properly itemized Columi and CERTAINLY NOT Rakata. Get your facts straight or ditch that "PvE Raid" Guild ASAP

PvE was not nerfed.

Except that it does. I have saved groups I have been in with my healer with electrocute from 30 meters. I heal from a ranged distance as I am Not Melee. When the cc broke and is still on cd, or that add wanders over, that 30 meter range bought the time to stay alive. Your "First 'PVP only' patch" (not) broke some PVE abilities. You may PVP, but my healer is not MELEE.

PvP only sets and PvE only sets.

May claim to be one or the other, but PVP sets given away free at level 50 are better than what you can get in your first raid sets.

So free PVP gear, for beginners (lvl 50), is better than 2 tiers of raid PVE gear. If properly itemized Columi what about properly itemized Recruit MK-2?

PvE was not nerfed.

PVE was nerfed many times, even against the testers findings, or did you start after 1.2?

I stopped reading there. Recruit gear is blue and cannot be modded.

Well, for starters, I don`t like separate effects for skills. A skill does x thing, it does the same x thing in PvE AND PvP.

Furthermore, both and none should take priority :) .

There are better classes at PvP than others and there are better classes at PvE than others. It`s a question of having the right class at the right time.

Because PvP also involves some form of theory-crafting and getting to play the "PvP class". And I really don`t see the need to change half the skills because players simply won`t reroll from the arsenal merc.

This reminds me of the guy yellings hacks, because he wasn`t able to kill a guarded healer with a backup healer.
