Social Points from Players

Hi

Posted this of sort on another thread and it was suggested i do a thread here also.

Social Points

We all know how to get and grind these but for myself i find after levelling my main up to te top rank in social points, i cant bare any more flashpoints of Esseles/Black talon etc for alts. 1 more and i will start having nightmares about them i think lol.

Since playing mmorpgs since 2005 i have never really been an end game player, always playing for the social and guild aspects of a game. Running Events, Helping others (in SWG i was also Mayor of servers biggest city) so my gameplay is a little different.

In Tor myself and many others i have observed via guild chat, and i am sure lots of guilds has these types of players in, often will drop everything to go to a guild member (or indeed non guild member) who has asked for help. perhaps running a flashpoint with them, perhaps a class quest, perhaps just a boss fight.

I myself run a weekly planet datacron run for the guild. Every friday night. once all worlds are completed, i repeat the run for newer members and alts etc.

Now these runs as an example can have a group of 6 to a group of 20 and its a great fun guild social event and can take a few hours to complete. however as its not a flashpoint, those running it or those who help others do not get any social points from it.

it would be nice if players, like the system in Warzones when they can vote for a MVP, has perhaps a daily/weekly social point allocation they can give to other players (non alts) who have helped them ingame. Something under the social points tab on character screen which could say "donate social point" and show daily/weekly allocation.

I know this could lead to arrangements where players just give to friends and vise versa so perhaps no more than one allocation of points to a player a week from each player.

Just an idea to reward those social and helpfull members of Tor who help other players out and ask for nothing in return from said players.

I'm of the opinion that social rank should be linked to your Legacy as opposed to your character. As you said, once you've grinded a character all the way to Social X, you really don't want to do it again.

I understand that social points are meant to reward players for grouping up and playing with their peers, and that's great, but when you can play all the way to level 50 with a friend and not pass Social III, you end up forced to run the Esseles or the Black Talon over and over and over again in order to unlock whatever outfits or titles you may want to use. Especially for players who aren't stoked about endgame operations.

There should probably be a social reward for Warzones as well, recognizing acts of teamwork such as passing the ball or taking an objective with a group, but I suppose I can understand why there's not.

In any case, I would love to see more options for gaining social points rather than running the first Flashpoint ad nauseam. Social minigames like Pazaak, Sabacc or swoop racing would all be awesome and fun ways to gain social points. Hint hint, Bioware.
