In Lieu of transfers (Idea)

In Lieu of closing down Jung Ma, or force merging us into another server (which I unfortunately do not seen either happening any time soon) give us the opportunity to join cross server ques with another community.

I don't care if you want to keep the PVPers with the PVPers (us and pot5), or the RPers (us and ebon hawk) with the RPers, but it would be a nice stop gap measure until something else is worked out.

I don't see waiting until F2P launches as acceptable. Even if it launched tomorrow bug free, with the restrictions placed on the F2P model it would a month before many people were in a position to add to the server. On top of that it would do nothing for the post 50ers, as the F2P isn't available there. The 1-49 level of the game is the biggest draw, I don't see many F2Pers continuing past that with a subscription.

The thought of having to start all over again on another server, coupled with the lag issues and frustration with the situation has made some of the FEW people that I know left playing go play GW2 while they work this out. I believe that with this modification we have a better chance of people staying on the server, but get people to come back to play which would raise our own numbers up.

X-Server could have prevented many/most of the server shutdowns and a lot of perception issues like "no one's playing anymore". Even on busy servers it would have helped for things like lowbie group finder queues and mixing up the rated warzones. It's something that they said they wanted to do a long time a go but were held up "for technical reasons". They waited too long: now x-server would mean at most 3 or 4 servers per region... It's another example of someone making a bad call (bad call: picking an engine that doesn't support x-server/transfers or bad call: waiting until after the last possible moment to implement those features) with this product.

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but the only people really left on Jung Ma are the hardcore guys, either that started a character and just want to get him to 50 for the pride of it, or the guilds that internally are still active.

I know that Bioware has its hands full right now with the 1.4 glitches, but pretty soon there won't be a Jung Ma player base (I mean as people will let subs run out) especially with the sub 50s and F2P on horizon. Once the towel is thrown in, it is over. Getting people to come back to the game when they have already emotionally invested in a new one will be next to impossible.

I don't know the back end of it. If it would have to move a mountain for the cross server que thing to work out, then I'm just plain out of options. I like this game, I liked the people on this server. The other servers would be in the same boat if they hadn't merged 4 servers into one. They merged what, Jung and Ven together and Ajunta Pall bailed?

  • 2 weeks later...

There is a solution that I've seen some people suggest: diver the F2P traffic here.

By that I mean, stagger the F2P server launch so that JM is opened 48 hours before the other servers and so we get some extra F2Ps who are really in a rush to get started.

People keep bringing up the cross server solution, but Bioware is just not going to do it. They have stated this many times. We need to be realistic and simply ask for the same opportunity Ajunta Pall got -- let us transfer off to a PvP or RP server. Then over time they can merge this server with whoever they want.
