Phill
Just wondering, I love playing my Bounty Hunter, I spec'ed him to be a tank..at this point I have maxed out Mako's affection..and I just picked up Blizz..I want develop Blizz story but he is a tank himself. Having two tanks on Belsavis is really difficult and I find myself having to go back to Mako. I remember in Beta there as a time where you could swap roles for your companions buy purchasing kits. So, in theory I could make Blizz a healer.. Is there any talks about the ability to changes roles for your companions? Is this something you might consider bring back? SNCommand
Doubt they will, there was probably a good reason for why they removed it Have myself played as a tank on Belsavis sporting a tanking companion and don't really get what's difficult, but then again I did have over 500 in presence at the time
Stenrik
I would prefer "companion talent trees" myself, a way to respec your companion to either change their role, or make them a hybrid. For example, I'd love to have a part heal, part dps companion, since I often find my healing companions go overkill, even on attack stance. It would also be cool to spec a dps companion to get an actual taunt at the expense of some dps, so that I can manipulate the mobs a little better. It's probably a ton of work to do... but I really like the meta-game of min/maxing companions. I think being able to experiment with them the way you do yourself helps extend the life of the game. KurganNazzir
You could have Blizz out for conversations but switch to Mako after, with the exception of conversations that jump straight into a fight. Also, gifts. Not what you're looking for but these are pretty much the only ways right now. I use the dailies for working on affection on my less-used companions but, of course, you have to be high enough to do the dailies so that doesn't help you at present. Phill
I do like the tree concept.. I remember during beta you could change the roles of the companion by purchasing a kit..some kits would make the companion a healer or ranged dps...I remember Qyzen tossing grenades.. Then during an update BW swapped out the role kit for an "appearence" kit so you can change the looks of the companion. As players got tired of all the companions looking the same... So the ability to change companion roles did exist at one time..it was of course during beta. Edited September 28, 2012 by Phill
JimG
Is there any talks about the ability to changes roles for your companions? Is this something you might consider bring back? Not gonna happen. That was ditched long before the live version of the game came out. Just have to use a lot of gifts on Blizz to trigger his story. Blizz likes pretty much any gift except "courting"....he's like the garbage disposal of companion gifts....so it shouldn't be too hard to get his rating up quick. Actually, don't even have to use a lot of gifts on Blizz - everything except courting is favorite, so you get bou coup points for it. He was my easiest companion to level up. RAVM
I've asked for this a few times and think it'd be a great idea, even if just for the cash shop. Especially for the DPS companions that have no healing or tanking, they are often very sub-optimal choices when your own character is DPS. I'd really like to use the companion of my choice and not be gimped for it.
