Pre-paid card and f2p?

I would like to know, if the Pre-Paid cards will be still available in the future, after the game goes F2P.

Will they still produce the Pre-Paid cards (after F2P), or will the production&distribution be canceled ?

They will produce cards for sure. The question will probably fall to whether they will separate subscription-time cards and Cartel Coin cards, or just create Cartel-Coin cards and expect you to purchase content in that fashion when using a gamecard.

My guess is they will have both as they want to offer every available opportunity for a customer to part with his money, just as most any similar business would.

In the german forums there is an ongoing discussion about the future of gametimecards and there are hints (gamestop employee) that EA ordered them to only sell gametimecards until december and then send back all the unsold cards!

My guess is that we will be able to buy cartelcoin-cards and then buy premium-access with those coins!

But it will also be like:

Cartelcoin-card costs 20$ ->2000 coins

30 day premium subscription costs 1500 coins

so you'll have to pay 20$ even if you dont want the 500 extra coins... just a guess ;) (EA...)

I also wanted to know the same about game time cards, i buy mine through Origin, since maestro debit cards can't be used for subbing, and asked support about them concerning F2P, and they said they didn't have any information at the moment.

Would be better to subscribe imo, because cards are more expensive.

I prefer to use cards because it forces me to have to make an active decision to continue my subscription. Auto-sub is a great deal for game companies for how many people stop playing but don't go in and cancel their subscription, continuing to charge them until the player gets over their inertia to do so. I'm prone to the latter.

Also because of all the security breaches recently. I've had at least four different websites, two of which I've used credit cards with, be hacked in the past year and a half. Using pre-pay cards means there's no vector for a hacker to get my CC info.

Not to mention I've heard one person talk recently about how they cancelled their sub back in July and Bioware kept charging them until the player had to take additional steps to make them stop.

Now I'm concerned about the continuation of subscription cards.

Why on earth would they stop selling subscription cards? That would be stupid considering they will want people to pay a sub. Like LOTRO they will have the prepaid gametime cards and cartel coins cards.

*edit* another thing I get so sick of hearing is people putting stock in what some anonymous minimum wage gamestop employee says. Simply is not true they will be "sending all gametime cards back".

This is definitely true. People who earn minimum wage are absolutely untrustworthy. Only trust people who are extremely wealthy.

Hello folks,

When the game goes F2P will I still be able to pay via pre-paid game card (from the local store)? Without ever needing to use a credit-card?

ty

Depends on your local game shops, here ie GAME and GameStop no longer have SWTOR Time cards, when asked they said that due to incoming F2P too few people will buy them so its not worth for them to have hem
