6 Weeks and Counting

Here's the quote: "We’re committed to: about every six weeks, doing a major update for the game -- which would be a new Warzone, a new Operation, a new Flashpoint, a new event -- and to doing that on a really frequent cadence, every six weeks. So we’re going to stick to that.

Nov. 7 is 6 weeks from 1.4's release. . lets see if you come through bioware. u said you'd deliver 1.4 in sept and you did. however u have broken more promises than u have kept. so i am still 100% skeptical. lets see if u make good on this.

You know what else happens on November 7th? BioWare declared It's "N7 Day."

It's a worldwide celebration of the Mass Effect franchise, which will feature a variety of in-game, online and even live events. I doubt anyone will be playing SWTOR on N7 Day. :p

There is probably more people that play TOR right now this second in the game than people who still power up Mass Effect 3 in a week.

Which is saying a lot with the servers about to come down in 2 minutes.

This is what it should say:

We’re committed to: about every six weeks, to breaking the game w/ more poorly coded patches w/ massive downtime and more downtime to fix the first broken patch ... we're proud of our record of doing that for one year in a row now. So we’re going to stick to that.

chee i speak the truth and the truth hurts!

give them a week or 2 of margin, maybe they can have it down in 6 week, maybe they would need 7 or 8 weeks.

in any case, we should see the next patch in november, yes.

would you agree anything past 8 weeks would be a valid reason to criticize bw?

The heck with anything new at this point. I want them to fix all the things they broke with this last patch (1.4).

TBH, I am fine if we don't have anything new untill sometime in 2013. I have enough to do on my many alts to keep me buisy for a long time. But, after this last patch the fun meter dropped to zero due to all the bugs.

FIX. THE. BUGS.

Doubling down I see.

How'd that work for you last week when you were pre-blasting them for not making their 1.4 release in September? :p

lol u act like that wasnt warranted. prior to 1.4 u can honestly say they have been honest with the playerbase? they came through in sept which i admitted. but u honestly think that makes up for 9 months of not coming through prior to 1.4?

You mean how they didn't follow through on "transfers at the begining of the summer" or "complete transfers by the end of summer"?

They seem to have kept their promises on the "big ticket" items (at least as far as advertised).

I still want them to fix this last patch (yay stuttering!) but, they did deliver as they promised.

Imma arguing fact of delivery not quality of delivery.

I will say a lot of us doubled down on the broken content, and seemed to have made out like bandits. ;)

Uh...no. PvP is where they've failed and lied - that's a "big ticket" item imo. We were told:

"We have an entire team dedicated to adding content and features to player vs. player. We have some of the most experienced PvP developers in the world on this team. So far very few people have seen, or know much about the stunning Open World PVP on Ilum; when you get to the high levels prepare to be blown away! In addition to that high level PVP content, expect new Warzones and new PvP features on a regular basis."

Regular basis huh? Not one new "feature" for PvP that I'm aware of...tweaks, but no "features". In fact, soon after saying this, they completely REMOVED Ilum's PvP goals...and replaced it with...nothing. This is the ONLY MMO that had less PvP content 10 months after release than it did when it released.

I didn't want to muddy the water's with Ilum and PvP. That is a separate issue from "delivering" on things said by the community team in these forums over the past summer.

PvP is borked, you and I have discussed it at length and I agree with you. I was simply arguing on "delivery" of the last few "advertised" "big tickets" that the OP has been going on about for days (weeks?).

You all set for the day PvP died "celebration" promised by GA on "Ilum day"!?!? ( Why do images of "Serenity Valley" come to mind (and not the one on Voss))

Threads like this are why we can't have nice things. We should not be encouraging the release of patches before they are ready.

Doesn't matter how much we encourage it at all, or if the patch is ready or not, EA decides when the patch will go live whether it's broken or not.

Deadlines > Quality.

It would have been warranted to pull that trigger on October 1. Not more then a week in advance, while we were still in September. You discredited yourself by that action IMO. :)

I'm just going to cross-link the two of you to explain just what's going on here.

Here's another thread, complaining about why they didn't fix all the issues before patching 1.4 to live.

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=5214123

And this thread right here is one of those reasons. I note in the OP's post in this current thread, there isn't a single thing about "making sure the content is bug-free" or anything of the sort. Just a chosen date on a calendar, with a stern warning that anything after that date is a failure.

Damned if they do, Damned if they don't. If they stop to fix the bugs, the OP in this post complains. If they release it anyway to abide by the 6 weeks promise, the other guys complain.

It's too bad you all can't get together and decide what's more important, but hey, that's the nature of the player base.

Ilum is supposed to get a big update in January, though.

*hasn't even tried the PvP yet*

actually you discredited yourself by not actually reading my OP. All i said in the OP was that they said they'd be releasing 1.4 in sept. and since this was last week in sept, i asked them to tell us what day this week they'd be releasing it. sorry that you remembered it differently.

actually its very simple. you release the content when you say were going to release it, without bugs. thats what testing is for. need i remind u this is a subscription game. its not f2p(yet) and hasnt been for the past 9 months. therefore bw answers to the subscribers and when they dont deliver on something. its the subscribers duty to call them out on it. if the game was completely free since launch other than the purchase price we could complain all we want but it wouldnt matter.
