My Letter to Bioware.

Hello,

I am a huge fan of your game and I personally wanted to let you know that I appreciate everything that you guys do. But, I am constantly becoming annoyed with some of these new "features" coming up in 1.4 that are supposed to be great. First of all, the unification of the chest armor that came in with the last update was a tease in a way. People have been complaining since April of 2012 and before (there are plenty of topics on the forums) about being able to customize your character's armor via dyes or crafting. The main issue with the unify colors feature was that those people felt like it was a big slap in the face. I personally have the Jedi Battlelord gear on my Jedi Knight and want to be able to dye the actual armor color white and grey instead of green and orange with a brown robe. Can you see why the unify colors haven't helped me? I want to look like the guys on the character creation screen for that class...but due to the armor color I can't.

Which brings me to the hood up/hood down feature. You stated that it would be released "in the next big update." It wasn't released in 1.3 and now it isn't even mentioned in 1.4 or even brought up on the PTS. I originally quit playing the game, along with others, when I hit 50 and there was no hope in getting a purple crystal for my Jedi Knight. Turns out, you guys later removed that feature and I came back. You guys began listening to your community again and we started coming back. I understand the "importance" of end game things like raids, bonus quests, events, pvp, ect but it seems like Bioware has forgotten about the people, like myself, who want to log on and do a number of other things looking the way we want. The legacy system you guys updated was great, it was fun, I feel like my Jedi Knight has a Han Solo buddy now that goes along with the story that I have created for each. I am not going to quit the game, yet, over things like this but at least let your community know when you plan on releasing these things instead of having them wait hand and foot for the features they have been dying for. I haven't seen a lot of "emote update" complaints in the forums but there are pages and pages over hood up/down toggle and armor dying abilities along with "more lightsaber colors for the sith." Now, to help you with the more lightsaber color issues it would be super awesome, and follow cannon, for the Jedi/Sith to use the force to craft their own special crystal by tuning it as the force flowed through them. It is the reason (in the books) that Luke's lightsaber is that dark green color that so many people desire. I am not saying that you should add 60 colors to the game but it would be a very nice game feature in order to customize the tint of the color crystals or even a blank crystal or something. Hey, if you wanted to make money off of it you could put it up in the store that will be coming with free to play.

I am a true Star Wars fan and a big fan of KOTR1 and 2, not to mention Star Wars: The Old Republic, but I really feel like you guys are ignoring the little guys when it comes to stuff like this. I understand your need for more end game, I understand your need to want to "increase the level cap" (which is a bad idea but that is a whole other story), and I understand your need to keep the game moving forward with story and raids. But you need to understand that it is also moving the game forward by adding more ideals to the characters themselves. People play MMOs to escape their reality, no matter what else anyone tells you, they want to LIVE in Star Wars for a few hours out of the day, let them live the way they want to by looking the way they want to. Colors, clothes, ect define a person. They should also define a character.

Thanks,

Nolo-fin

P.S.

Think about adding in a barber of some sorts. I think the community would appreciate that too. Sometimes they want beards and sometimes they want to shave it off.

Thanks again for reading/listening.

One of the defenders will claim you are QQ'ing, OP.

But you mentioned the part about the next big update, there's the part right there. 1.4 is not a big update. It's a minor addition TBH.

And the color of uniforms goes all the way back to beta when I first saw it asked for.

1.4 is the worst update,

lots of pvp oriented nerf, buff,

no new class story,

only ridiculous armor re-colored,

it will make bw to lose more subs.

They still said that they would have it in and they don't. And if color of uniforms goes all the way back to beta, then why has it not been addressed with something other than a 'unify color' button?

Only thing I can say is Bioware just didn't do anything about it. But it was something brought up in beta. But there's a lot of things in beta that was asked for and still not in the game. Actually even the unify colors thing is a prime example. It originally appeared in beta and wasn't even planned. It was a "whoa... how did that happen?" Next person said, "Wasn't expected but let's keep it in." Then a few beta builds later they took it out and we had to run around dressed like clowns with badly colored clothes. And they refused to put it back. Then months later, they put in the unify color thing as a "new feature".

But when they took it out of beta, there were a lot of people asking "Can't we at least get dyes then?"

Then you can agree that they are tip toeing around the subject and it seems to be that they are ignoring these. I have yet to see them bring this up in any interviews or anything like that. All they said about the hoods were, "soon" but soon was a long time ago. They just need to flat out say how soon is soon.
