Will level 1 name holders be erased?

I simply think that a solution can be found to reduce the numebr of lvl 1 zombies without any damaging people that need these characters for any reasonable motive.

As far as I am concerned, you have yet to identify how inactive characters in a game database is harmful or inhibiting in any way (regardless of their level).

I wish someone would delete this thread.

I SWEAR IF ANY OF MY LEVEL 1 CHARACTERS GET DELETED CAUSE I HAVEN'T PLAYED THEM I WILL UNSUB FROM THIS GAME AND NEVER COME BACK!

That is a threat I will do. I don't care if i'm the minority or an insignificant subscriber BioWare dones't care about. I will also never play this game Free 2 Play. For me, it's stay subbed to SWTOR or quit playing.

I didn't talk about differences "between a level 1 toon on an inactive account or a level 1 on my account" if a toon is inactive it is inactive, no matter if it is in an used account or not... Bw can also differentiate between subscribed and f2p accounts, and also give the possibility in the cartel shop to buy the "life support" for placeholders. If the player care about them can put some effort on them in any way, putting effort on them prove enough imho that they are zombies.

I don't understand the "story reaon" part, seriously. Can you give me examples of motivation to maintain a toon below lvl 10 indefinitely?

simple. the character is a child of my lvl 50 sith and is a student at the academy on koriban.

keep your hands off my active accounts names..period. i have seen this crap on multiple games. You try to phrase it "for the good of the game" but the truth is far from there. COH allowed 36 characters per server..they never ran out of names. I have chareacters that were generated on day 1 of prerelease. they are level 1 but I will be playing them. My account has NEVER ben unsubscribed. This whole song and dance has been run into the dirt. Someone wants a name and has decided they are entitled to snatch it from someone else. denial isnt just a river in Egypt.

Now that the servers have been consolidated once again, will the Bioware Development team do something about all of the "Names are unavailable" characters that have never been played // have no sign of being played? Place holding is one thing, taking up the name and never using it is another.

We'll just call this a "spring cleaning", if you will. Any information would be well appreciated.

sidenote: If we're aware of a character name that is taken but never played, can we petition to have it?

honestly dude , if people want that name for later alt , why not let them , you shouldnt force people start lvl up an alt just becouse you cant get the name you want for yours ! personaly i think old paying players has suffered in this game all ready , dont make us suffer even more , becouse of few persons cant get the names they want . after all people that get the name first have same right as you to it. besides old players have keept this game going where new players think they just can get the names they want after 9 months the game been running , come be realistic about it .

Before the servers came down for the merges, I went to the server we were being merged with and created a new toon with the name of one of my higher level ones that was about to come over. When I had logged in after the servers had come back online, I was forced to rename the level 1 character I had just created and my higher level one had retained their name.

Once again, you failed to read my post and made your own opinion on pure BS. The reason I made the thread was for a simple answer. (Again, since you fail to read any of my posts and just come up with your own conclusion based on everything I don't type.)

Players like you are what plague these forums with your rash negativity and failure to understand the intent of a post. Instead of having a constructive conversation, you simply think everyone is "entitled" and demanding something and should "get over it". (All your words, btw.) .

I simply asked a question with what SHOULD have a simple answer, that's all. Not everyone that posts on these forums are out for their own benefit and ONLY post for that reason.

No I read your postings just fine.. it boiled down to one thing... I want, I must, I demand.. except rather than using the word demand you try to smokescreen your post with, "can I get an answer on this..."

Why else would you be so intent on bringing a pointless subject on other players toon names/playing activity to the forums... no sorry dude you are the one splurting the BS around here and many posters have seen through your screen.

What possible reason would you have to come here and put out a request to Bioware to answer your apparent interest in what you consider inactive toon names... none, you have nothing but self interest because you have tried to get something you cant have and you want others to make way for you... sorry if that hurts and if you believe it to be flaming you then so be it, I could do a lot worse but I think the majortity of posters here have already answered you and put this nonsnese to bed.

Face fact.. whether you believe yourself to be the white knight of naming policies or account activity beliefs, or just someone with an outside interest.. this kind of "REQUEST FOR ANSWERS" had to be bourne out of something much more self interested.. so you have your answers, its a /FAIL to ask, demand or even consider making any kind of change or deletion to another players toon.. its linked to their account and has nothing to do with you.

Or lets play the game on the other side of the fence.. I want to call my new toon the same name as yours, one that you haven't played in a while, placeholder or not.. lets apply the same ruleset here and see what your reaction would be when you next log in to see your toon either deleted or requested for renaming... pleased ya think?

The level of the toon is irrelevant, you consider a lvl 1 toon to be a placeholder, and so what if they are, I see that as planning ahead.. you had and still have the option to do so, but everyday the game gets older, every player has 8 slots available to do so what they like and pretty soon names get congested and more and more creative... thats the way it is, so yes, in my words "get over it, and move on".

Bioware designed the game and that included a policy and mechanic to deal with naming duplications and violations, whether you agree with how they decided to run with it is something you will have to get used to but you have no valid argument to make around changing another players detail whether that toon is lvl 1, 10, 50 or has been inactive for a week, a month or a year... you simply have no way of knowing what that players plans are and neither does Bioware unless they implement a contact management system and a new policy to support it.

Transfers and Merges are a different animal entirely and has highlighted the shortfalls of their naming mechancis but in order to keep the game viable for the few players that were left on certain servers, they had to implement an emergent plan or suffer an ever bigger/faster sub decline than they were already experiencing.

This latest change, I too am confused over as the super server idea had already been implemented but I guess they are planning for what they hope will be an influx from F2P... so rather than placing a whine thread on here about renaming players low level, supposedly inactive toons.. I would start getting some names planned out and placehold them ... just in case - afterall its a logical in most things to always plan ahead, dont ya think!
