jogabonito Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Regarding armour that you can that you can modify, can you use that armour until level 50? A guildie of mine told me that if you just continue modding it with higher level mods you can use it until you get to level 50 Is that true?
jogabonito Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 But will it improve in terms of armour stats as well aside the + stats?
Dasffion Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 But will it improve in terms of armour stats as well aside the + stats? armoring mods will increase the armor on armor and hilts/barrels will increase the damage on weapons.
Ashmadai Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Yes, if you have a custom armor that you got at like level 10, when you put say level 30 mods in it, it scales the base armor of the item up to that level too. As was mentioned before, the armoring mod is what does it for armor, and the hilt does it for weapons.
split_light Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 It certainly works. I made a pair of pants with absolutely no mods, and it had an Armor class of around 17. I threw some mods in there and suddenly had a very nice set of level appropriate pants.
Aloro Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 I dont get it? So mods > gear? Orange gear relies on mods for its stats; the gear itself is basically cosmetic. If you're using an orange item, the item's effectiveness will vary drastically based on which mods you put in. Armor has an armor mod slot for armor; blasters have a barrel slot for damage; lightsabers have a hilt for damage... and all orange items that I've seen also have a generic mod slot and an enhancement slot. All orange gear is not better than all other gear though; it'll depend on the gear and the mods available. You might e.g. find a blue blaster at lvl 20 that does more damage than your orange one does, but then you can replace the mods in your orange one to upgrade it.
ChronicD Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Actually, I have seen several instances of armor (only armor so far) where the base stats on the item are different. I got two different heavy armor items, removed the mods from both. One had 25 base armor, the other 150 base armor. That's with no mods at all. So, in some minor ways, your choice of which orange item to use can be affected by the base stats on the item.

But you can continually make that gear better (the orange one). I like this idea of true, makes it so not everyone looks the same.

So, in some minor ways, your choice of which orange item to use can be affected by the base stats on the item. This is likely being caused by the orange item having a minimum level for use. For example, I purchased an orange helmet from the PvP armor vendor that required level 40 and removed all the mods. It still required level 40 to use, and had the same armor as before.
Sundragon Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 It's important to remember you can remove mods from items. So, if you get an orange item that you don't want or can't use, take the mods out of it so you can use it in an item you do have.
Windrush Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Mainly for Cosmetic meaning if you like the look of the cloak, you can leave it inventory bags until you get mods(item enhancement) that you can put on it for the appropriate level you are currently, and use another cloak wich is an upgrade at your current level. It's for the look. I saw a sweet white cloak that look awesome.
