Jornas
I recently started a consular alt and am really like Tython and the early abilities. However, I've noticed that Jedi Shadow seems to be the second or third most popular class on the server. Which makes me wonder if shadows are in demand for grouping, or if it can be tough finding a group because people either prefer a heavy armor tank (guardian/vanguard), or feel other dps classes are better. I played a ranger in GW and a ret paladin in WOW Both were good classes but it could be hard finding a group because: a. both classes were very popular - "dime a dozen" syndrome b. other classes were seen as more effective for dps Just curious to hear everyone's thoughts. I'm having fun as a commando healer but would probably spec my shadow out for max stealth and dps. Any constructive thoughts welcome.
Van_BlanK
I haven't seen an inordinate amount of shadows. For the consular, I believe sage is more popular because right now it is probably the best pvp/pve class around. At this early stage in the games life cycle, it is hard to determine what the demand will be at end game. Most people will take you in a group unless they need healing. To top it off, people generally arent too picky because they just want to complete quests....
twiddlerompus
I play a shadow tank and am now level 28 and have never been denied a group because I am a ' light' armor class. The thing is we aren't a light armor class. We end up getting something like a 270% armor bonus which puts us on par with the other tanks. We are more than capable tanks. I have also never seen a dps shadow denied a group. Shadows offer great utility. We have good cool downs and can cc. We rule
kevshootit
I am wondering if Shadow DPS (as opposed to tanks) are going to have a hard time finding groups. Melee DPS is a very popular role b/c you have guardians and sentinels who can dps and u have LOTS of ranged DPS which people are saying is pretty easy to play/be effective. minervasunrider
Where are you finding stats for who is rolling what on each server? Or is it based on observation? I ask because I'm interested in knowing these things in terms of rolling alts. In terms of desirability for pugs, I wouldn't worry too much; play what you like. Once you get into a few pugs with a couple of the same people and add them to your friends' list suddenly you realize that they are not pugs anymore and you want to search them out and run with them (assuming they/you are not fail). Oh, and Shadows are not disadvantaged by not wearing heavy armor; there are other mechanics to make up for it and only a group leader who doesn't understand the game would shy away from a shadow tank simply because of the light armor. In other words: if somebody doesn't want you to tank simply for that reason, then you probably don't want to run with them anyways. Finally, +1 to the poster above - shadows rule (this opinion may be biased). Such a fun class to play. Shadows tanks are great primary tanks and work as great off-tank/DPS secondaries in groups of four or more. There is no reason someone should turn you away unless they need a healer.
