It´s a simple...

  1. Do you find it fun?

  2. Do you do it because your guild needs you to?

  3. Do you do it because Healers tend to get into groups faster than most classes?

Personally what i like more about playing as a healer, is that there is no rotation involved. Its based purely on reaction to what is happening around you and not following a theorycraft optimized rotation of spells.

Then again, there are somethings i tend to dislike about playing a healer, namely:

  1. Unavoidable AOE fights

  2. Prevalence of stats/gear over skill at the endgame

  3. Long drawn out fights, i have no patiente to watch life bars for 15m

So what are you likes and dislikes, what made you choose a healer and not a tank or damage dealer? :)

I have enjoyed Operative healing so far, mostly because the mechanics are interesting and its not just a spam fest (managing energy is an interesting balance).

I usually play tanks, but after running a Jug to 21 I decided to yield to our Powertech and let him tank and I would pick up heals, allowing the Sorc to spam lightning.

Who knows what will happen down the road, but for now the Op healing is good stuff.

I like healing on my sorc a lot. It's a lot of shielding and HoT's, along with a lot of pew pew. It's much more fun than DPS IMO as I get to do a bit of both in every fight.

I'll give it a 9/10 so far. The only thing preventing me from having as much fun as possible is the UI. It's just clunky. Otherwise it's a total blast.

I think the only thing I've healed with an actual tank was Hammer Station. Everything else seems to be me and three Marauders. Even then, most fights seem to be tuned well enough that the boss dies just as I'm hitting the bottom of my force bar.

The only real difficulty seems to be in Heroic 4 quests when my cc is continually broken and all four of us have agro from something. But that generally only happens in my trigger happy full Marauder groups.

I know the feeling (about cc), i remember questing in Tatooine with my Sage back in beta, doing an Heroic 4 and having all this trouble sorting out CC´s and then the tank opens up with an AOE... *sigh*

I heal because it is the only way my team will win. We got the pew pew but when it comes to healing no one seems to be able to do it and do it right. I heal and pew pew as much as I can but there is one thing that is stopping me from enjoying it.

A crappy CRAPPY UI!!!!! If I can't use the interface quickly how am I supposed to enjoy the game.

I've healed every MMO I've ever played, and the reason is this:

You can very easily replace DPS, even good ones. You have a very difficult time replacing a good healer (or tank for that matter). You're always needed, and when you're good at it you can carry pretty hard.

A bit selfish, but its why I heal :D

I love to heal, I love the support aspect of being a healer. It is a selfless, sometimes thankless job that is critical to a group's success (as are the rest, tanking, dps, etc). I really enjoy being "the healer", and I try my best to keep my group up.

No guild yet, but have been flattered by many offers so far.

1. Yes

2. Guild? Yeah I'm in a guild but we dont do anything together yet

3. Chose healing actually because I did a flashpoint and I was the only one with any kind of healing. I've never enjoyed healing in other games *cough cough WOW* as any class but I'm loving it here

The healing is fun.

Nothing exactly ground breaking except the companions (really like that)

But the UI is giving me a damned headache to say the least.

I'm dreading what kind of pain a raid is going to be.

I like healing so far. I think certain UI improvements should be made in order to make it even better though.

1. Purging can be an issue because i find it hard to see when at what debuffs people are afflicted by. Especially using OPS frames.

2. OPS frames needs pets. I realize you can't use pets in raid encounters but it is kind of a problem when using ops in normal instances and general play.

Apart from the above i think healing is very challenging and fun compared to most other MMO's i have played. On top of it there seems to be a lack of healers, which makes it even more fun to be one....you get to feel all special and wanted!:D

started healing way back when ni was tierd of DPS.

havn't looked back ever since, the minigame of whack a mole and avoiding dmg yourself is just way more fun then keep whacking some dude with a stick while trying to stay outn of the fire :p

and ofcourse the resposibility for the group, if you slack of they die, if they slack of you just have a harder time :)

I found healing pretty fun in SWTOR, especially cause of the acolyte. I can do Heroic 2 alone, without any problems, at lvl 19 for now, i just have to keep my Khem Val alive long enough to kill the beasts.

The main problem i've found was in small group for heroics when the dps just rush in without taking care of the CC i've put or don't define who is tanking. Anyhow the role is pretty fun i think, u're not a weak caracter, and just because of the acolyte.

I like healing so far, but I'm not too keen on the UI. I find it clunky and annoying. Not being able to heal companions, when they're such an integral part of a party, except by targeting them manually (which I've noticed is annoyingly difficult) is a real pain. I also want more options for my keybindings.

I'd really like click-to-cast if I was being honest.

I worry that healing raids is going to be extremely difficult if not impossible.

I´ve had to find ways around the ui to make healing a more enjoyable role... this is what i´ve done:

Make the operation frames your standard group frames. Change their width and height to accommodate your tastes and move the frames to a position above your own character frame.

I play with a keypad peripheral called the "Razor Nostromo" made by Belkin. I have my heals and shield mapped to the "Q" "E" "R" and "T" keys, so they are at "hand"

This means i just have to click the frames and "launch" the heal with a quick key press. It feels much more natural and ergonomic than playing on a full keyboard.

Yes I'd say healing is fun for me, I play a healer in every MMO I have ever subbed to, I just love the thrill of healing. In TOR it's a bit borked, they REALLY need target of target, which will help organize the group greatly. The only thing I don't like about healing atm is that without target of target it seems that every group member picks a different mob and as a healer I'm stuck basically healing 3 "tanks". Players seem very disorganized and not really knowing that a good efficient group will focus on a single mob at a time.

I'd also love more options to dps as a healer. As a sorc on intense fights I don't dps (other than sabre strike to regen power) because I'm afraid of using up my power. It would be nice to have some mechanic where dps would specifically help healing so you would be inclined to throw it in.

Besides target of target we need more UI refinements, macros, customized group windows, etc. But overall I think BW has done a good job for launch.
