With Regards To Companions: Hopefully the Devs Will Notice.

This might have already been brought up elsewhere, but there are two particular things that bother me with regards to Inquisitor companions particularly, but in a broader sense all companions.

First Ashara can't be turned to the dark side. The story forces you to compromise on how much of an evil sith you want to be if you want to get with this otherwise awesome character. The same goes for several other characters that force you to compromise on your alignment for affection gain. (Admittedly part of the problem here could be that the characters I like just happen to be the one that affect my alignment negatively (in my opinion)).

Secondly, Xalek can't be romanced, and neither seemingly can any companion character that doesn't closely resemble humans or have an overall humanoid appearance, which I think is disappointing. I've read through various sources that the SWToR crew intend to allow for same-sex relationships in future expansions and development. Hopefully what I mentioned above will also come with it.

I hope the devs see this and that it might influence future development of companion characters. I know this is only the opinion of one person, but still, i felt it should be brought up. Bump if you agree :).

While i agree Ashara should be able to be turned to the darkside, I will say that you will not get along with every companion. If they all loved the same thing, whats the point of having more than 1.. some like dark side, some like light, you have to make sacrifices if you want to keep them all happy.

They have stated explicitly that currently there is 1 romance option for either gender for every class.

They have stated that they are contemplating adding homosexual relationships.

There is no problem here. While it would be ideal to have 5 romance options (and your droid, mmmm robot romance mmmm), it takes a lot of effort to add in this meaningful content, not to mention controversy (remember mass effect? and I can't even begin to imagine all the furry hate that would happen).

I agree that turning whatsherface would be super cool and is a good idea.

I don't agree that this should be high priority, like giving assassins an actual gap closer and better mobility than sorcerers.

Yeah, and Sith Warriors can't turn there other romance (Jaesa) lightside so...whats the deal?

It's called give and take. You decide to play the evilest class in the game very evilly, they throw in a twist by saying one of your companions will not turn darkside...

Its called variety.

Jaesa can be light or dark.. that is determined by how you talk to her and tell her what to do when you get her so... yea she can be light or dark..

Look guys, I know exactly why the devs did all this, and I agree with everything said above, about how this is done for variety and twists, etc.

All I'm saying is that these are some options I would like. I'm not saying every character has to like the same things, just that it would be nice not to be bound to playing a certain alignment to be allowed romances.

BTW if I'm not mistaken I believe that at least the smuggler has multiple romance-able options, and I believe a couple of other classes do as well. Also I know the sith warrior can't turn theirs, my suggestion was for an across the board change.

This is an mmorpg, I just feel like you should be able to take multiple paths to reach the same destination, and not be forced into a certain style of play to achieve a quality of life aspect of the game, such as romances.

BTW word for the most evil class in the game, zero light side points to date, and that's how I intend to keep it.

I will be starting up my inquisitor/assasin soon. The possibilites for romance relationships will be interesting. But the coolest idea to come out of this thread I think would be a subplot of really working to turn companions one way or the other. Kind of surprising BioWare didn't think of this (or maybe will be coming soon). It would make for some really interesting dialogue possibilities.

Too be fair I think the major problem here at least for inquisitors is that we're EXTREMELY restricted with our Female Romance option... She's only romanceable by light side Inquisitor but not by a dark side she's also the only female romanceable companion the Inquisitor gets at all while Sith Warriors got Vette for Light Side romance and the other one for a Dark Side romance.

The problem is the number of female companions the inquisitor gets being that she's only romanceable with the Lightside Inquisitor...

So yeah let us turn her to the dark side or allow us to romance her while dark sided or just give us a bloody dark side romanceable female companion.

I won't be bothering with romancing any pixels thank you very much, so that nonsense is immaterial to me. What does kind of concern me is the fact that as a Sith you get a Jedi as a companion.......what is this, I don't even.....I mean c'mon, a Jedi? As a Sith companion?

She looks to me like a companion originally designed for the Jedi class that someone forgot to give to them and then realised we were missing a companion, so threw her over to us.

I am confuse.....

I'm guessing you've only been reading and haven't actually acquired her yet.

Go play. You'll learn why it makes sense.

Can't you just shower her with gifts and dont have her out when your killing the quest givers and lose points. I havent gotten to this companion yet but just thought maybe this is an alternative.

One point of view could be how diabolical it would be to string along a good character as a romantic interest all the while you are evil when shes not looking, sounds pretty dark to me.

Or just go pure darkside and get a girlfriend in the real world.

Or have a girl in the real world, go pure darkside, and then shower this companion with gifts so she learns to overlook your murderous rampages.

Speaking of murderous rampages, I suddenly am reminded of a /silly from the female gnome from WoW that seems oddly appropriate as a Sith Assassin... "I apologize profusely for any inconvenience my murderous rampage may have caused."
