Vanguard Leveling Build Discussion

So I've finally settled down to leveling a Vanguard/Powertech and I was wondering if i could get some comments from people who have leveled or are leveling the class. I started out with an Ironfist build but I'm not really that deep. Mostly I'm looking for fun over speed, but any comments are welcome. Thanks guys.

I found leveling as Assault was fun enough. I would suspect that Tactics actually levels faster and possibly funner with it's better AE damage, and lower ammo consumption.

The most fun class to level for me was the sentinel, but that was due to combination of charge and damage that I don't think the shield spec can reproduce until later levels.

Tactics is a rather bad leveling spec because it's really late bloomer.

You don't get your cool abilities until 27 (Free stockstrikes), and you get them ALL in the 30s: Hold The Line (Amazing kiting cool + KB and pull immunity/snare and root braeker), Automatic High Impact Bolt Crits, +50% Pulse Cannon damage, and a decent snare.

I always thought Gut was bad until I started paying attention to what the small little 300s are all the time

I went up the tactics tree till gut then up the Shield Specialist the rest of the way and it has done me good. Have decent enough AOE and I kill not as fast as full Assault or Tactics but it gets the job done with very little downtime. I also play on a pvp server so being the spec I am really helps in open world pvp.

Honestly, I'd say to figure out what you want to play at endgame, and level as that spec. Every spec in this game is decent for leveling and can go at roughly the same speed. Tanks kill slower, but have less downtime. Levelling as your intended endgame spec will give you a huge advantage over people who are one spec for 11-49, and then swap when they hit 50.

Rotations should mostly be muscle memory if you want to be a skilled player. You should be devoting most of your efforts to positioning and teamwork, not keeping your ammo up. With some practice with a spec, you barely have to think about that part. Leveling up as that spec will make things much better for you at 50. You'll already have tons of practice, and you'll barely have to think about the basics at all.
