Want Recount? Announcing raid-wide real-time damage meter with graphs

Recommended Posts

Sorry I don't have a fancy name or any car salesman pitch, but I will say that the time and effort spent on this project will be well rewarded if I can help the SWTOR community out by providing a lot of, what became rather essential, tools that we are used to from WoW. That is what SWTORCP is all about. The site has news and a blog about development and ideas.

A video can be found on the download page so that you can check out what it looks like before downloading. Do note that when the Game Mode is activated, the client has transparency that you can change and its borders are removed so it's not all in your face like it appears in the video. Damage meters are the first step, then other raid tools to come this month. Either read the news on the home page, or just browse down here and you can find out some ideas. I'd love new ideas, and I will always give credit to anyone who submits any idea that gets implemented.

At the close of the first week in beta, I am comfortable releasing the application to the broader public. This application will connect you and your raid members in a group, similar to a chat room, and it will log your data and graph it very similarly to recount. As the developer, I am very open to user feedback and I will respond to every single request or question personally that is made either within the client or from the contact page.

Site:

http://swtorcombatparser.com

Features:

  • Log and analyze data in real time with other users connected to your group.
  • Easy setup - takes about 10 seconds
  • No non-essential data, and you can contact me directly anytime you please about issues or options you would like to see added through the contact form or through the in-game client (in the In-game options tab)
  • Extremely low bandwidth usage. I doubt any other solution will match this. It won't even be a blip on your network.
  • HTTP traffic only - no firewall tampering necessary.
  • For devs or anyone worried about security - as you all should be when downloading something - Source code can be reflected by using Reflector by anyone who would like to do so - the code is not obfuscated

Coming up this week:

  • Settings get more automatic/user friendly. No more prompts asking for data that can be gathered automatically from combat log.
  • Parsing on a per-fight basis as opposed to using the "Clear" button

Coming up this month:

  • Omen-like warnings
  • Deadly Boss Mods-like warnings that can be configured by the end user

No offense but your really bad at this game if this is the stuff you need to complete content. Can we get a project to get Game Shark, or even better Game Genie, working in SWTOR? I'm sick of my health bar draining when we miss an interrupt.

  • 1 month later...

I can't believe how WoW has turned MMO players into. I mean, do you really need outside tools for everything such as "playing your character" ?

Or do you also want a scripted program that makes your character kill an ops boss while you watch TV ? is it what video games are about for the WoW generation (post vanilla) ?

This outside tool is useful in determining how to min/max your character, or identify problems in your raid because you have 3 ranged dps that cannot even beat the tanks in overall damage. It doesn't play your character for you.

I think he was referring more to this part:

This stuff is not needed in the game at all. If you pay attention there are already visual and aural queues in the game.
