Pcolapat
If you are too far away or not controlled or try to use an ability that is on cooldown red warning text appears in the middle of your screen. The yellow text showing mission updates can go as well, I have a quest log I can look at for that information. It is just too much information on my screen that doesn't need to be there. the only time I ever pay any attention to it is when it begins to bug me. There doesn't appear to be a way to disable that right now. Edited May 10, 2012 by Pcolapat
Thuggery
I'd like to be able to move it. In the heat of button mashing in pvp , I can barely see anything in the center of the screen.
Vankris
The dev knows about this issue From the Q&A of march 30th http://www.swtor.com/blog/community-qa-friday-march-30th-2012-game-update-1.2-special Asphen: Can we get an option to turn off the combat error text in the center of my screen? Damion (Principal Lead Systems Designer): We will be looking at adding the ability to move and/or turn off banner text and error text (the two kinds of text that appear in the middle of your screen) as part of the GUI customization system in a future patch. This isn't a trivial issue, however - in some cases, fairly vital information is given to the player here, and we'd need to be sure that in these cases the text gets rerouted someplace for a player to review. So short form, yeah, we're thinking about it, but no ETA for you at this time
wamalamadingdong
the mission updates are preventing me from completing space battles, so just how important are they? important enough to justify making the game unplayable? *EDIT: maybe not "unplayable". more like "unwinnable". my screen is covered in fast-moving objects, which I'm trying to track with my cursor, and every time I kill something, a stupid objective update flashes. complete an objective, now you've got an objective update, plus objective completion. it's bad enough my system is clipping trying to render all these explosions and stuff, now I can't see anything in the center 25% of my screen except gold and green letters, which take even more resources. just let me kill stuff. I'll read about it afterwards. Update: I tried everything before I posted this, finally, lowering resolution fixed my frame rate. I had originally set it to my desktop resolution because it dramatically hastened my ability to switch from game to desktop (google) and back, and I didn't notice the performance trade-off until Taspan Ambush. I'm glad I can go back to enjoying the space battles again, they are the best minigame I've played in an mmo. now if I could only remember what I did with my gfx card to make my polygons all jagged... wamalamadingdong
for one thing, other games seem to be able to convey quest info without the center-screen updates. but we're not talking about "fairly vital information". we're talking about a big distraction after EVERY. SINGLE. KILL. let us choose to only get vital/benchmark/completion information this way, and reduce the font size.
