Energy management

How is managing your energy as a slinger? I've got an Operative healer so I can at least say I've had experience with trying to manage your energy, but I have a lot of instant casts that dont use energy so I feel like it's easier. Because I have an Op, I want to start out on a slinger, but just wondering how you find managing the energy as the dps class.

rotations...

charged burst / trickshot / speedshot / aimed shot / trickshot / filler x2 /charged burst / trickshot /filler x2 / charged burst / trickshot ---repeat

 

 

assuming your a sharpshooter anyway...works great for me

From what I've been told from a commando DPS point of view, it's a little be easier. I can't really comment on that because I've only ever ran DPS spec on my commando for dailies. In comparison to my commando healer however, I find it varied. If you are not careful and drop below the fast regen point, slinger can be slightly more punishing to recover. Still, with a good rotation and a little understanding of how it works it's never too difficult to maintain full energy even through burn phases.

 

Overall as long as you understand how the regen works and take at least one regen talent most people consider the system very easy with the current level and energy management should never be an issue.

 

At lower levels it can be a bit rough. DF won't get good and it generally a wasted spec until mid 30's early 40's. It's also pretty lackluster regen until you get enough gear at 50 to have reliable crits. SS is better but until you get Trick Shot you're missing your best DPS per energy move so it will make a huge difference.

As Sharpshooter with a couple points in Burst Volley, it's pretty easy if you stay on your rotation. What can mess it up is if you have to spam inefficient stuff because it's a movement phase or some dangerous adds got loose or something.

Pretty much this. So long as I'm staying in cover I don't even have to weave in my normal attacks so long as burst volley procs. And it does.

Between Burst Volley procs (constant) and Foxhole, energy management is a non-issue for SS Slingers. Using a smart, efficient rotation will keep you pretty well topped off, unless you have to move out of cover. If that's the case, pop Cool Head and you're golden again. Most of the energy cost of aimed shot & charged burst will regen by the time they fire too.

I only have problems with energy if I use Thermal nades too often out of cover ofc. New BV is awesome to the point I never ran out of energy in FPs/OPs unless I need to move and shoot a lot.
