TheronFett
Maybe it's because I went to a small school, or was educated in an era when public school teachers actually gave a damn. But it seems like so many players are simply unable to identify with where north, south, east, and west are on a map. Has technology really made people this lazy, that they don't know where they're going without first consulting Google or having a GPS to guide them? Typical ops chat messages: - "3+ incoming EAST!" Inevitably, half your team will go "assist" at the wrong turret. - "Need help at WEST!" No, wait...he's really at east, so everyone goes the wrong way. Never Eat Sour Watermellons That's how they taught us in grade school. If I can remember it for over 20 years, then surely it can be taught to gamer newbs without a sense of direction, too. In the meantime, BioWare, please add some N/E/S/W indicators on your minimap GUI. All the Little Red Riding Hoods are getting lost, and we don't know where to find them. johnyangelo
Yes, this on alderan is especially confusing for imp side since it's upside down.
mystbladex
I always tell everyone Left(east) Right (West). It does bug me when people take the wrong speeder Take a second, open up your map, see were people are at and go to it. Not hard
YanksfanJP
Even with directional markers, people still won't know what directions are, I guarantee you. Here's a much better suggestion: Instead of this, Bioware, please just rotate the map 90 degrees. Turrets are now TOP, MIDDLE and BOTTOM no matter which starting area you're coming out of. Problem solved. If you agree, please give my Suggestion Box post a +1. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=4318000
Monterone
Signed. I HATE it when I have to say 'incoming snow', but sadly I've found out most people don't know what east or west are.
criminalheretic
Yeah I am probably guilty of this as well. In real life, standing inside a building with no windows, you ask me to point west and I can immediately do so. Voidstar? I have to pull up the map, then remember my toon is facing the opposite direction, so the mini map is the reverse of the main map. I feel like a preschooler. Jayrik
I find it funny that from the first day I played a warzone during early access and every time since everyone on the republic side has called east, west, mid/south and everyone understood it. I roll an imperial alt and all of a sudden we have people calling snow/grass or even right/left. Really supports the "kids play the empire" theory. My favorite was when someone called "3 inc weast". Um...
Tathais
I've never had a problem with NESW but sometimes my brain just won't communicate properly haha. The other day I was standing at east on voidstar trying to call for incoming and I just couldn't get my brain to tell figure out where I was standing! It was so frustrating... incoming... uh.............. frick really!? Errr............ Never Eat... East! Oh crap I'm dead >< Shouldn't be a big deal to put it on the minimap for brain-fart related issues

Lhaim
This would help alot and be easier to implement (cant get any easier can it) than to correct bad and lazy map design. Have the people that designed those maps ever played any other mmos or shooters? Why are there starfighters hanging from the roof in voidstar, shuttles parked on one side of the map but all doors still look the same? Why didnt they at least color code them? Do you know why the capture points in arathi basin are stables and farm and not horde-farm and alliance-farm? Its not because of 4th pillar reasons... Pingstar
I PvP'd for several months on Rep side and east/west wasn't an issue. When you spawn west is on your left and east is on your right just like any normal map. I then started PvPing on imp side and it is all backwards. I called out the wrong side a few times before I realized it was flipped.

Time to explain why some people do that. Map and defender door orientation: Some people always view the maps from the attackers point of view and some people view direction based on the way are looking out the defender door. Thats why I always say "OUR LEFT" or "OUR RIGHT".
Lt_Latency
I don't get why people don't just use left and right when referencing to the map. Left side of the map or Right side of the map seems simple enough to me. Edited May 9, 2012 by Lt_Latency
LancelotOC
Maybe new slash commands like /facenorth or /faceeast would fix it too.
TheronFett
This would help alot and be easier to implement (cant get any easier can it) than to correct bad and lazy map design. I admit, this is also part of the problem. It doesn't help when the map gets flipped depending which side you're playing on.
