What's a good target dps I should be seeing when doing 5 minutes of single target damage on one of those dummies? Right now I'm seeing 650 dps, which seems way off.. NoFishing Posted May 9, 2012 Share Posted May 9, 2012 Yeah, that does seem quite low. Gunnery spec'd, without raid buffs or stims I get 1050-1150 over 3 minutes. Assault comes up slightly lower for me (1000-1050), but I like the mobility (even for PvE) more. I'm about 50/50 Rakata/Columi. What are your stats (Aim, Power, Crit, and Surge)? I recently added some augmented gear and a Black Hole piece, but your number seems low. The dummies lie anyway, they don't do misses and dodging like operation bosses do. On the other hand your usual test on the dummy doesn't have your team boosting your damage either. Clearing EC HM Toth/Zorn tonight I was doing 1200dps on Toth, 252dps on Zorn and 1261dps on the Handler at the end. Was kinda scruffy though, got debuffed on Zorn after unloading on him, had to survive that and restart on Toth. Then on the handler I'm certain I wasn't using ammo as well as I should. Boufsa Posted May 10, 2012 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Hi all I have spent a lot of time hitting the dummy and my best record so far is 1320 DPS on a 270s sample with all buffs + rakata stim + doping & relic as soon as available. On the long run (500s) my usual is more around 1230 DPS which makes me think there may be a special cycle I don't know of to optimize more the dps & energy consumption. But I didn't come here to show off, because I find those numbers really deceiptive, as my team mates from other classes report some much more highers numbers, sages would be around 1450dps and a gunslinger would even reach the 1600 dps thanks to its dots and a rather clever use of its powers, so I really would like to know what is the average expected dps for a gunnery commando, because it seems so far away from what others classes seem to be able to do that there must be a trick I don't know of. I am full rakata with even some black-hole pieces and I even tried using the canon of my war hero weapon on the dummy, but reaching the 1300 DPS is already very hard and I really wonder how you can go further. PS: Some more details: The log analysis pointed out that about 35% of the damage is from grav rounds (39 uses), and 39% from full auto (23 uses). Full auto has the best damage per use ratio as I use almost 2 grav rounds for one full auto, so I have tried to make it proc as much as possible, and for example using it rather than a demoliton round in my cycle but it didn't seem to be so great. Other dammages come mostly from High Impact Bolt (11% - 13 uses), demolition round (11% - 9 uses), and Hammer Shot (3% - 9 uses) I also use a Sticky Grenade every time I am going to use the relics. You can blow out your ammo in that kind of time period and end it with all recovery skills, relics and adrenal on CD ...and low ammo Is that sustainable? Hell no. But your burst damage is severe during that time. I'm full rakata with BH ear & generator and if I go nuclear on the ops dummy I can get 1394dps over a period of 2 mins. I'm in a mix of Columi and Tionese, with one Rakata piece, and I'm averaging around 800something DPS unbuffed/unstimmed on the longer-duration fights. My DPS as of about half an hour ago after some mod fiddling on two 5 min runs was 1324 and 1334 with stat cube then with power relic. You are about 110 higher than me, and I have almost the same level of gear as you (well maybe even better since my damage reduction is around 30.8%, and I have removed some extra precision sophistications to re-gear with columi level power/surge or crit ones) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Did you invest points in the alacricity talent? How many custom pieces are you using in your set? (do you use a 4 pieces bonus or did you give it up to have more augment slots?)
