brianmack
...because it's typical to see a 4 month old game slash its box price in half, run weekly specials, give away free months, email canceled subs to return with freebies, and be merchandised in the Wal-mart bin next to multiple copies of Bernie Mack's Mr. 3000. None of these is a falsehood, it is happening. Get your team in line PVP leadership.

sDiesel
not saying anything is wrong, but i do find it a lil odd that we already got a free month and prices for the game are nearly 40% off after only four months. when i started playing wow it was 3 years into the game and bc was at its end, game was ~$40 and nilla+bc was ~$60(iirc) and i never saw wotlk or cata go on sale....but i dont go shopping a lot lol. it just seems to damn soon to start price slashing unless there is another problem...but thats my thoughts. Conisdering that SWTOR follows the WoW formula of player splits almost exactly... the people who care enough about PvP for it to cause them to unsub never made up more than 15% of the subs anyway. If subs are falling, its because there's just not that much to do at endgame.
DarthOvertone
It's amazing how accelerated the rate is at which this game is tanking. I've never seen anything like it before. And I must say, it's really all on BW. Their horrible mismanagement of PvP and complete lack of quality control is what has lead us all to the current state of horribad PvP in the game. It's so disappointing because I think most of the peeps that gave this game a shot wanted to love it for years. Instead, we will be fortunate to be around for months. KBSIP
difference between WoW and SWTOR is 1) cross server potential and 2) available server transfers. Those two things will see anyone who still wants an MMO flavoring that isn't a hardcore star wars fan going back to wow. Granted, PVE content in 1.2 is better than the current WoW endgame, but when your server can't muster a full team capable of clearing it due to population issues that doesn't mean much. Izola
THE SKY IS FALLING!! Honestly tho, EA/BW are already in the profit margin, if you want to play another game just do it, But i can assure you this "FORUM" game your trying out isnt that good. Either play Tor and be constructive or go do something else with your time, its all goods baby. Edited May 7, 2012 by Izola
Astarica
MMORPGs can afford drastic cuts in prices because the $15/month is a ripoff in terms of what you get so they don't really care if they slash half or 75% off it. In some years, WoW makes more money than the rest of ActivisionBlizzard put together and its maintenance cost is nowhere near what it costs to devleop even one major title. But since most people get scared if MMORPGs stop ripping you off, that's why we can't have nice things like say $5/month sub, because people would be saying this game is dead and quit so they might as well continue to rip you off at $15/month. You shoulda seen the exodus on Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, or Shadowbane. All these released in beta form and lasted about 6 weeks before they were ghost towns. Bluetickone
lol...you forgot the biggest one of all: EA's stock is down 50 percent since release and steadily but surely in continual decline. dont get me wrong, I like this game (at least until 1.2) and dont want it to fail, but its gloomy. I at least understand why BW is so concerned about investor impressions rather than consumer concerns with the vast majority of information they publish. I have played quite a few MMO's and I have never seen an MMO before SWTOR tank and lose this many subs as fast as this game has. It's not even made it too the 6 month marker and nearly every server in the EU is a ghost server and it is all down to Bioware's mis-management, mis-communication and failure to recognise multiple issues raised by it's playerbase. If subs are falling, its because there's just not that much to do at endgame. Except BW has acknowledged that by their estimates they have double the % of players (as it pertains to total population) participating in PvP as opposed to other MMOs. I have already said the reason for this is because there isn't much else to do at 50. So, if they break the one thing that a lot of us log in for and then we are staring down the barrel of a 4 boss operation to keep us busy for however long until more content comes out, one could easily deduce why this may be a problem for BW. Ignore if you want to, though. It doesn't bother me.
blazingg
What else do you guys expect.. this game has been a huge let down since the get go. I personally am not a hater and i wanted this game to do very well but i have lost faith in bioware after every single patch is a middle finger to PVPers sorry to say but PVPers make up more then 15% of the game 15% is more like RPers. Bioware seems to think they can make a RP game with bad PVE endgame and then just continually ignore PVP and just add RP crap over and over and think the game is going to last any player who isnt blind and doesnt play on one of the 3 populated servers has noticed the massive drop in server pops.. my server used to peak 200 people in the fleet and half as many republic side. Now max people in fleet on peak hour is 50 people republic never goes over 20 but i guess the servers are HEALTHY or whatever nonsense bioware is trying to make up to seem like the games doing fine. Twor
The one difference that separates Swtor from WoW is which has ARENA and which doesn't. Result you can see in subscriber numbers. Crossservers is the main difference... while I would never want them for PvE (if I still did PvE) WoW Arena wouldn't stand a chance without xservers as well. I'm still baffled what is taking them so long, Rift introduced them very soon, should be common knowledge how important those are.
