Subatomix Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 They changed BM gear stats. Why couldn't they change Cent and Champ stats too? I mean, Recruit could have still fallen somewhere around Cent. But the overhaul of expertise mechanics and DR means Cent and Champ are somewhat from another dimension now. And everyone who "worked" to get that gear is now disenfranchised. Yes, a case for the senselessness of "working" for gear in pvp can be made. But that's how this game works. We still need to "work" for gear. Would it really have been that hard to balance things out between 5 set of gear instead of now just 3? Shortcuts like this and blatant errors on the part of designers and developers are killing (have killed?) the pvp side of this game imho.
mattnaik Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I'm not understanding the complaint...you have gear...it still works...what's the issue?

I think its right that Cent was removed, the bottom set should be purchased. Champ gear should have stayed however and been rescaled. I really dont understand why they chose to do that. You then would have had a system where those with full champ would have been slightly above those who just paid for gear, but still behind BM. All that would have been needed was to increase the gap between Champ and BM compared to pre1.2. This also would have reduced the gulf between BM and "not" which we have right now. The only positive is that BM is a joke to earn right now, so everyone will be full BM by next week anyway.

It still can be time consuming to get Bm if you are stuck on a poor server, population and faction balance wise. Often loss and joining 4v8 will make your grinds longevity pretty significant
iDubstep Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I don't understand that either and it is kind of irritating actually. I imagine, no I know that it would take me much less time to acquire the credits to buy full Recruit Armor than it did to get geared with Centurion and Champion gear. I have felt a little disenfranchised by it as well and actually stopped playing my semi-fresh 50 as a result.

ragnarz Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 there were 3 sets. 2 of 3 were made obsolete and unusable; 1 set was modified to fit into the new PVP model. this created 2 things; people upset that their progression efforts/investment were nullified and a new vast gear gap due to the inexplicable changes to expertise. if you think that the recruit gear addresses this, try thinking harder. when you change the model and reward a subset of the population while penalizing the rest you fracture your community. couple that with other myopic decisions and you get IDK 50,000 posts about it in under a week. your stock price drops. You put out press a release that you are laying off people and then deny it. moral of the story; when you run a business, have a strategy. don't ping pong on a whim. don't piss off your customers. HUBRIS is your greatest enemy!
mSum Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 BW not buffing Champ gear was a big mistake IMO. Half the QQing going on around here is because people are being destroyed in their Champ gear because they don't want to give it up and/or pay for recruit gear. "Pay credits to swap my purples I earned for blues?" BW should send their devs to a few classes in human psychology.
-Dench Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 (edited) I was very disappointed to see how the gear was changed. This is the way I would of liked it: From lowest to best 1. Recruit gear (purchasable by credits, basic end game PVP gear) 2. Cent gear (purchasable by tokens, that are reasonably easy to get) 3. Champ gear (purchasable by tokens, that are some what easier to get) 4. BM gear (purchasable by tokens, that are hard to get 5. War hero (purchasable by tokens that are very time consuming to get just like they are right now) I put a LOT of time into getting my champ gear and partial BM pre 1.2, and now champ is with the lowest tier that is purchasable with credits. wow. so why should i bother to grind out to BM and attempt WH? I can only assume that they will do this again in the next few months and war hero gear will be the new champion gear. the games 4 months old, and we already blew away 2 full sets of PVP gear? a LOT of people didn't even have full champ sets yet! jeez.... mattnaik Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 If you have to ask it would be a waste of time to explain it to you. No please, expose your ignorance and explain it to me....Wait, don't worry i got this one. Full champ gear on my sentinel gives me the following stats (with all class buffs): 786 max primary damage 16444 HP 11.6% PVP damage/defense bonus Full recruit gear gives my sentinel the following stats (with all class buffs): 710 max primary damage 13367 HP 14% PVP damage/defense bonus Are you trying to tell me that 2.4% damage/defense bonus will more than make up for 76 primary damage and over 3k HP? Plus champ is still viable to use in PvE where recruit gear stats are terrible outside of PvP. Centurion is probably worse than recruit gear but that stuff was growing on trees after 1.1.4.
