Stormwake Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Most of the EU servers are dead or very close to it with 1 or 2 having queues in the evening is there plans to have charater moves or server merges? The guild i had on my main is all but dead with 3 or 4 members playign daily (guild had over 120 members at its peak). Are BW looking at merges or moves or do i have to reroll and start again jsut to find a guild and ppl to play with the game feels like a KOTOR game instead of a MMO.

They stated more than once that they don't have any plans for the moment for server transfer and they didn't even touch the "merge" subject ... it will be probably sign of weakness
MarkoJinn Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 This is becoming a matter of serious concern and, frankly, i'm not sure what to think about it. After the initial 1.7 million subs we really have no idea how many people are actually playing this game. It is obvious from the server status that this number is much much less but how much is a mystery. What is even more concerning is the fact that this issue seems to be on Bioware's ignore list or maybe denial list. Like many others I too was forced to re-roll on a more populated server. And even though the server I'm on now is doing fine my concern remains. Not everyone has the patience to re-roll as i do and it looks like people are leaving in droves. I'm going to be observing what goes on at Bioware with great interest from here on. At 1st sign of development team size reduction I'm getting off this boat. I very much like this game and it fits very well my casual gameplay style but I'm not going to be investing money into something that has no future. These forums are filled with anger and "I'm quitting" posts. And even though some of this can be attributed to spoiled kids, and hardcore PVP maniacs who will never be happy wherever they are, the sheer numbers of these kind of posts raise some serious concerns and questions. I hope I'm wrong...

I hope I'm wrong... I work in a casino, I hear "I'm never coming back!" 100 times a day. Then I see the same person the next day, the day after that, a month after that, etc. So many people now feel that if they say they are going to quit that they are going to be given everything they want there on the spot (entitlement). I would love to see the characters tied to these posters and actually see how active they remain. Until BioWare actually starts showing a fiscal loss they will hold to their business plan. I think businesses now are more accepting that they can't please everyone because some people's expectations are not reasonable.

I have also seen articles where they are considering server mergers, but wish to avoid having Fatman-like que times abound, so are approaching the issue with the proper amount of research and caution. I'm going to be observing what goes on at Bioware with great interest from here on. At 1st sign of development team size reduction I'm getting off this boat. I hope I'm wrong... Which has happened with every other MMO out there. What you see here is the same clap trap that permeated the Guild Wars forums (and still does occasionally). Last time I looked, GW wasn't going anywhere, and this despite the fact that GW2 is on the horizon (and you can bet that a month after launch there, those forums will look identical to here). What we are seeing in SWTOR is just the natural progression of the game play experience. The novelty has worn off, so people aren't playing marathon sessions day in and day out. Sure, some people have left, but there are no signs of the majority of the population going anywhere. BJ
Meluna Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Hey, everybody! We already have an existing discussion thread dedicated to talking about server population concerns. If you'd like to share your thoughts, you'll find the discussion thread here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=396615 We're going to close this thread and ask that this discussion continue in the existing thread, so we can keep the conversation a little better consolidated.
