Post 1.2 : Squishy (Armour nerf?)

I preface this with a note that this is not an idle complaint I want to QQ about, I'm sincerely perplexed as to the cause of what has changed, so bear with me.

Since 1.2 rolled out, I've noticed all my characters are really squishier. IE, they get stomped much more easily : both in PVE and in PVP

This problem is particularly noticeable for heavy armour classes. For example, the shield spec Vanguard trooper/BH Pyrotech have lost a lot of damage soaking.

As an example, I'm currently mopping up quests on Hoth (bonus series) and on Belsavis. The mobs are level 41-43.

My Trooper Vanguard is level 47 and he is UBER decked out in moddable gear , both armour and weapon: rifle rating 112, armour with 47% damag redux, 33% shield, 40% absorb with the new buff skill from energy blast. So is Elara, my pocket healer : she has 27% damage redux.

Before 1.2, I was reaping everything equal level or below. Literally everything soloable at my level and even a few levels above mine, heroic 2 and even quite a few heroic 4s I was able to pull off solo. It was hard, but it was fun.

Now? I barely get through a fight with 2 equal level strong mobs. I lose over 50% of my health, with my healer going apeshyt kolto on me.

I now have a serious challenge taking out 2 strong mobs, even if they are several levels below mine. Something's not right.

The same goes for PVP. I can still hold my own, but I go down in 3 seconds in focused fire, whereas pre 1.2 I could survive 6-9 seconds and at least take out one enemy.

This prompts several questions for me :

#1 What has changed in damage t ype/armour effectiveness since 1.2

#2 Does this affect all classses? Have all classes noticed a significant decrease in their ability to survive.

#3 Is there a new gameplay mechanic I'm not aware of I should be changing to adapt to new damage types?

Please feel free to share your post 1.2 impression vs survibability.

Cheers,

My Trooper goes down faster than a 10 dollar h*e and my BH is also nerfed plus the heat generation nerf means that after 2/3 abilities I have to use my cooldown which gives me a little bit of help BUT does nothing in the overall scheme of things.......pretty poorly thought out changes all in all considering the way jugs and maras are op.

P.S. In answer to your question, heavy armor wearers were nerfed badly, My medium armor wearng smuggy now has longer life in a toe to toe fight than either trooper or BH. I'm sure theres logic in that somewhere but I'm strugglin to find it.

Expertise has shot way up, you're getting around 2x as much bonus damage from it as before.

.

Pre level 50 PVP has relatively no expertise in it, so the fact that heavy armour classes are going down faster shouldn't be correlated to expertise.

Level 50 pvp however, if you're not stacking expertise, you are gimped, that's for sure, but that's a discussion for another thread.

Sorry didn't catch the level in my skim. The only explanation I might have for why you'd take more damage as a heavy armor wearer is the greater number of marauders/sentinels running around (their dots ignore armor and do a good bit of damage) and the buffs to lethality/dirty fighting for snipers/gunslingers (which also use a lot of internal damage).

For pvp, I'd agree with that. General DPS output has certainly increased it seems.

However, for PVE that would have to mean that mobs have had their damage types changed as well.

Have you checked to see your if you remove and then re-equip your ear piece and enhancements if your stats go up from where it was before unequipped? Wouldn't be huge but might be a little bit.

Yep, I do it several times per day with my character and my companion, due to the current bug.
