You're not the first person I've seen suggest CTF, but I wholeheartedly endorse the idea.

Particularly if they can manage to make it less gap-closer/sprint centric than Huttball.

Whoa. Hold on now. Only one new warzone can be released every six months.

Yeah, probably. Just trying to stir things up so we dont end up with a third, 3 cap domination WZ lol..

Good idea, takes a back seat to working on win/loss unbalance and the need for server merges or cross-server PVP q's, as well as the rated issues.

Why is the OP so angry... You said it was a good idea. And yes it should take a backseat to the fact that WZ ques are a lot longer since 1.2 went live. No need to add more WZs to a broken system. Nonetheless, I would love CTF at some point.

Its spelled definitely, not definately first of all...

Secondly, yes..somewhere down the road in the distant future when swtor is dead they may merge the servers, long after the game is f2p. For all current time-frames, the servers will not be merged any time soon....which the above troll seems to think that it should be the utmost importance over anything new being developed. Sorry, it wont be..but BW has acknowledged the population issues, and transfers will be used to solve it for the time being. But thank you for your input on the matter..

Edit: the mods are deleting troll posts as im typing replies, please delete this one too!

"Good idea" was sarcasm....a favorite tool of forum trolls

Do you really want this development team taking on another project when they've managed to screw up just about every aspect of PvP already?

Why does everyone think that the same 3 guys do EVERYTHING at BW....i just dont get it. Newsflash...multiple things go at once with multiple people at BW concerning development. Just because an idea is brought up for future development does not mean all current issues will come to halt...so many trolls in this forum wow. Pointless to even make a thread anymore

Yes, every game has this, but capture the flag is such a classic pvp game, and it would be awesome in swtor. Lets get it done.

Dont we have a CTF already? If my mind serves me right Alderaan IS CTF with 3 flags (turrets)........

Erm... capture the flag usually involves running into an enemy base, grabbing the flag/droid/briefcase full of intelligence and lugging it back to your own base, to, you know, capture it.

The closest we have so far is Huttball where a neutral flag spawns at the centre of the base and then you need to carry it to the opposite team's base.

I wouldn't mind a CTF styled Warzone, they could indeed take the Team Fortress 2 route and have teams stealing a briefcase (or datapad/computer core/ship's black box) full of enemy secrets and dragging it back to your own base.

no that is domination style, hold more positions than the opposition and win.

As the post above me has stated, CTF has 2 "flags" or "datacron" maybe - and you have to go into the enemy base, collect the enemy flag/whatever, and take it back to your base, but you cant claim the win unless your flag/whatever is still in place.

Well not per say, in Team Fortress 2 you can capture the flag even if your flag is somewhere on an enemy's back or in the middle of the field (you also need to defend it for a solid minute before it returns back home), Valve did this promote a more aggressive playstyle and less turtling. For the most part it works.

This, IMO, is how a new Capture The Flag map should work in this game. A map that involves both factions as more of an open war "capture the other side's intel" type of thing. Each side has a "flag" that they have to defend, with the other side having to retrieve it to score. Have it work like Novare Coast for teams, where it defaults to Republic vs Sith Empire if there are enough players queued in both factions, but if not, it changes to a single faction "wargame" setup.
