Pexalottle
Hi, not sure if this has been posted yet but prior to 1.2 I was a sawbones and loved being one until I got sick of always being dominated in pvp, so I respeced to Scrapper. Being a scrapper has been fun but I'm wondering if it's worth going back to being a healer due to the changes? Thanks in advance.
matekwong
- AOE HoT heals more per tick, ticks x2 faster. - Diagnostic Scan also ticks x2 faster and heals more. - Upperhands can be 3 stacked now. - Due to the expertise boost you may fall easier than pre 1.2. On the other hand if you have the correct gear, its a boost in DPS. - Some reported that some of our heal digits are nerfed. - Pre 1.2: stun kick used to stop for like 0.5 sec then kick. Post 1.2: instant without pause. - No more giggles. Besides the removal of giggle, I am personally loving the change atm. Pexalottle
I miss my giggles. Whenever I'd use UM on myself I'd giggle and at first I thought it was because it tickled.
Porvalsh
Sawbones seems more powerfull since 1.2. I was 44 when 1.2 was released, 48 now. I feel like I have better survivability, maybe a smidge more damage. HoT up and you're good to go, almost never need to use other heals. 3 Stacks is nice for burst healing. Experience based on solo PvE only.
Cellwinn
Overall we have more flexibility with the change to Upper Hand Stacking 3 times, Diagnostic Scan going faster and Kolto Cloud is pretty damn good now especially in Heroic 4's and Flashpoints. I do find that if I'm not careful I can still easily burn through too much energy but that is not a huge deal as we have some good tools to build it back up. I miss my Giggle though, need a good cue to know that it has procced on Slow Release Medipack.

Right now you're at the top of a limited pool. That said, I enjoy healing a lot. Get the expertise from battlemaster gear. In my case, I actually lost a little cunning and endurance getting the gear but expertise is essential now. They designed it this way to keep people from just wearing PVE gear into WZs. When you hit 50 suck it up and buy the Recruit gear. You get the expertise and then gradually change to battlemaster. If you're wanting to run up kills you will probably be dead soon, but expertise will allow you to make up for a lot of the pvp penalties for healing. If you can handle a support role healing is good. If you want to be the star of the show then it's probably not for you.
Wintervoid
I actually think that the Sawbones is pretty sturdy. I was running a hybrid build until 1.2 w/ the increase in the AoE, and now I am a full Sawbones. Normally in WZs I am Top heals, or close to it. If I just focus on heals, I can pretty easily get Top heals, but after playing Hybrid for so long, I tend to add DPS and CC if no one is in danger of dying. I am also generally top Damage taken, and near the bottom of deaths. Well, except when I face our servers top premade. Then I just get top damage taken In Huttball, I prefer not to be a ball carrier, but can generally survive 10-15 seconds if just against a few DPS and have all my CDs up. I can not survive 3+ very long at all. In Civil war, I am fairly confident solo Guarding a Turret, able to buy enough time for help to arrive. Ironically, the only class that I really worry about are Concealment Ops/Smugglers. I do tend to move all the time, except when casting Underworld Medicine, Orbital Strike, Sab Charge and Charged Burst. We may not be DPS, but more then a few times Sab and Charged have brought down a ball carrier that though he was free and clear. Orbital is great area denial. It did take me a while to get comfortable with the playstyle though. It is not very intuitive since many of your abilities do not seem to mesh very well at first. I leveled up as a Sawbones, but I would imagine that it would be even tougher to level as a Concealment and switch to Sawbones. If you are interested in healing, give it a try. IMO, a very fun and diverse experience.
kuey
Sawbones is a great healing spec. Just prepare to get annihilated by any semi-organised opponenets in PvP once you hit 50. We're the most irritating healers due to mobility and CCs so we get marked quite quickly. Healer or not, you go down quick when jumped by several people (anyone goes down quick in that scenario). Prepare to rock up quite a few deaths if you roll healing spec. If you don't mind getting marked then Sawbones is a great spec. Healers are still great in group situations.
