the new space mission blaster sound and loading method suck.

 

the blasters are soo loud that i can no longer hear incoming fighters.... or my wife yelling at me. you might think that is a good thing, but she was trying to tell me the house was on fire.

 

the loading method starts your flight before you finish loading now. this is stupid. im not sure why you would think this is an improvement, but its not.

even with an SSD hard drive for the game and OS, i dont get control of my fighter until ~5 seconds into the level. since some of the levels start you in combat, i miss my chance for the first few kills.

 

look.... if you can waste our time by randomly throwing "PRESS ANY KEY" in front of some of the flash points and PVP matches, where they are just in the way, and instead move that to space missions... that would be great. you can completely pre-load the flight, so everyone can start *when they are ready and not lagging like crazy*

 

 

im not sure who taught your engine designers how to code for graphic events that cause hitching... but well, frankly the performance is piss poor.

my pet being summoned should never lag me like that. its my per, the graphics for him should ALWAYS be cached.

same with my mount, etc. why are we suffering performance hits for this crap?

All i can say is if you are so involved into your space missions that you dont notice the house burning down around and you thought that the smell of smoke was just very good game development by bioware to be the 1st ones to make a game seem so real when your ship is smouldering.

I've had the same issues. Loading times are worse than before, while mission start time seems earlier, resulting in, say, you entering the Impossible Sector mission in the middle of the first minefield.

 

Sound has been screwy all over the board since 1.2

Agreed on both the sound and the loading.

 

Do you find that the volume goes up and down throughout the mission? For example, in Ascendancy Barrier the sound starts extremely loud, and then about 30 seconds in it drops low, then a little while later it's deafening again.

 

I sent in a detailed bug report about this on the weekend, and I did get a response from CS in game asking for more details, so I think that's a good sign.

Just wanted to chime-in with the rest. I have noticed some issues with Space missions (all of which have already been mentioned) that definitely interfere with my ability to complete the mission, based on qualities that are not within the game. I should not begin a space combat before my client finishes loading the mission. A simple pause with "PRESS SPACE TO CONTINUE" would suffice. Please add this feature before I give up on space missions altogether. It's a waste of my time to pay credits to begin a mission that I fail before I begin, and there isn't even an option to restart the mission; I need to wait until I fail to begin again. Doing every mission twice is aggravating. I'd really rather spend my time other ways.

 

As for the sound, my experience has been that some sounds simply do not play. Blasters will usually be reduced to zero sound, or they will seem to get their play time pushed-aside for other sounds. I thought this was a feature of my limited sound hardware, but I am not so sure after reading these posts.
