QQ. little to no range dps, for one thing. survivability=a tanks JOB stealth=core mechanic of class melees dps comes from wearing dps gear. NOT the class being "OP". any tank class can wear dps gear. it doesnt make the class overpowered. its just evidence that tanking stats are worthless and dps stats are overbalanced. Aehgo Posted April 16, 2012 Share Posted April 16, 2012 I find them tough,but they are TANKS,they are meant to survive,don't let them get in dps range,they have no force leap and only one stun and slow..I'd rather fight 2 Assassin tanks then one Marauder,you can't escape them at all. I use my ranged attacks at melee range since none of those are interruptible anyway. I guess you can count Assassinate as melee DPS, but that's like saying the SW finisher is 'ranged DPS'. Nobody gets away from an Assassin tank unless you have terrain/elevation your side. Don't confuse the fact that an Assassin is standing far away from you versus getting away. The Tankasin's optimal killing range is 10m. I purposely walk away from people that I can get close to melee range because it's safer to attack them from far away than melee range (no PBAEs to worry about). If there's no elevation involved, 10m and 30m might as well be the same, and to someone who only has a range of 4m, 10m and 30m also feels the same to them. In fact since a lot of leap abilities cannot be used on someone within 10m, it's ironically easier to get to someone 30m away than someone who is 10m away. Their damage is high because they have the survivability of stealth, additive to the suvivability of tanking. While their burst damage is higher than the other tank specs, it is still not comparable to any DPS class. direblaze Posted April 16, 2012 Share Posted April 16, 2012 yet again i see people moaning about assassins whom are the most balanced of the dps tanks... jugs get more tools than we we, they get charge, push and when dps sec can hit for 5k to 6k all while being godly hard to kill.... Power techs are insane, huge hitting dots that hit around 600+ per tick, aoes that hit for tons, mutli chain procing rail shot that can crit for 6 to 7k... you know what assassins can deal that burst dps, we dont have the range of a powertech or the mobility of a jugg, or the burst dps of a jugg.....
