Im a lvl 30 shadow and my class quest has led me to Vivicars ship. He is a 36 elite and im only 30. I thought the class quest boss levels are supposed to be close to mine. I caan not defeat him. Im not sure wetther it is my rotations, do i have the wrong companion out; im a DPS, should i be using a healer or a tank. My first guess is that i havent completed any of the flashpoints and havent done much pvp. maybe i would be higher levels if i had done so. My question is, what am i not doing, or doing wrong.

Thanks

I can't help with your rotations but at first glance it may appear you've bypassed a lot of planet quests and stuck mainly to your class quests only. I fear this may be your problem. I have a few characters past 30 and none yet have had an issue where a class quest boss has been to high.

Have you picked up the Planet bonus quests from the starports on your way out? Return to them and see if anyone would like to talk to you.

I've taken Vivicar on at lvl 30 on a healing sage and a dps saqge. The key are interupts. You must, abolutlely must interupt his big cast, it's an instant kill. Save your KB,stun and mind snap for that big one. Use force lift as an interupt also, just hit him immediatly after casting it. if you interupt all the big casts, you should be able to beat him easily. he is a glass cannon.

Don't know if you downed him or not, but a neat little trick i found while trying to kill him was this: DPS him until you get a decent amount of threat (don't use a tanking companion), then when things start to become unmanageable, run around behind the little generator things on the right side of the map. Heal up, let your companion whale on him while he's trying to run to you. You can also run behind these things when he starts casting his lightning, causing him to stop and stutter. You can keep hiding until he starts attacking your companion - at which point you start unloading on him yourself until you generate enough threat / need to heal again.

And yes, interrupts are far more useful than they initially sound. Use them often!

Hope this helps!

Edit: Just realized you said you were a shadow. Hrm ... well, you can still use cover as an impromptu interrupt I suppose.
