In Anchorhead last night, sorry I don't have the location..was a med team near a clickable crate. Click the crate and an infected Racgoul pops out and gets you. right side of map is all i remember. My smuggler did the same thing and just dropped it after a while. My trooper did it for just a couple sets of raks and got infected. I've heard somewhere that only silver rakghouls can infect you. Linearaxis Posted April 16, 2012 Share Posted April 16, 2012 It seems that only the strong ones can infect you. Put your companion on passive,attack a group of infected. Or let him attack the weak ones and you target tje strong one. After he beats on you for awhile you'll see the infrcted thing pop up above your picture. KnightDLR Posted April 16, 2012 Share Posted April 16, 2012 If you haven't been infected by the time the buff wears off (90 minutes), just reset the quest and keep trying. You need to fight rakghouls in the area shown on the map, and reports say the red colored ones tend to infect a lot more than the others. On my first smuggler, it probably took me 20-30 minutes to get infected. When running around with my daughter on my newer smuggler, her Sentinel got infected with the second or third one we fought, and it took me about an hour before we decided to have me reset the quest....after doing that, it was the first rakghoul I fought. Owsley Posted April 16, 2012 Share Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) It might be bugged, especially if you are grouped. I ran the quest with my wife. I got infected and she couldn't. Now how the hell am I suppose to get back in 55 seconds? Is it even slightly possible to get infected, and get back to the quest giver in under 1 minute? That is not the right infection - that is the debuff, but it does not update the Catalyst quest (note that there is a 90 minute timer for you to become infected for the quest, but once infected there is no timer). To get infected for the quest, you have to fight one of the Strong-level Rakghouls (the red ones in the area designated for the quest, next to the "Falling Stars" Heroic area), and the first or second fight should be enough to infect you. At that point, the quest will update, you will see a message in the centre of the screen, and your waypoint will update to show you the location of the droid you need to talk to.
