How long before Deserter Debuff?

Do you guys seriously have to do everything exactly like how WoW did it? Even the stupid stuff? I give it a month before there's a deserter debuff implemented to cut down on people ditching a match the second it takes a down turn for their team. A deserter debuff will of course lead to massive AFKing, botting, etc. just like in WoW.

 

I beg you to come up with a better solution... nah I DARE you. :D

We need a deserter penalty and here's how to do it.

 

U q up for a wz. Bio dispatches reps to each players house. The agent then allows u to enter the game. Should u quit for no good reason the rep will beat u to death, but will b able to make a judgement call on ur circumstances.

 

Gives a fair way out if u have to leave, punishes quitters and gives all those recently fired at ea a job, everyone's a winner.

 

 

 

Or a flat 1 hour penalty, I'm easy either way.

lol, where do I sign up to be a rep? Adding a deserter penalty will just mean people will run into a corner and afk, or worse bot. It was absolutely rampant in WoW. Particularly Alterac Valley. You'd see upwards of a dozen people afk botting in the cave, they'd just hop every few seconds. WoW's solution? Snowballs, really?

I thought they more or less "had" fixed it with the rewards capping at 4 medals, and being "better for the winner, but not to shabby for the looser" before 1.2.

 

It's only bad again because they've done a complete u-turn on that paradigm and now it really, really sucks to be in a severely underperforming team. Possibly even more so than before the 1.1.5 changes.

 

I really don't understand the inconsistency.

I thought they cured botters with the 3 medal or no reward rule?

 

Yup we've only got half the controls we need, strict penalties should of come hand in hand with desertion penalties, everyone would of got over their newb outrage at the same time and the results would start to come through, but hey half arsed it as per usual.

People leave a Wz now because of the new system of win/loss rewards. People are not willing to spend 15 mins on a losing battle, when they will get no creds, little to no Valour and 20-40 comms....when they could quit, and potentially join a winning Wz.

 

I do not agree with quitting, just saying I understand why it happens. I also do not agree with rewarding for losing...there needs to be a difference...but it also needs to be worth people's while to fight a losing battle...not sure of the solution.

 

The new win/lose difference since 1.2 has made people quitting Wz a lot worse.

Giving more incentive to stay is easy, more rewards even when losing and bring back a daily that rewards one for playing warzones regardless how they end... so basically all the stuff they removed with Patch 1.2 (and for ranked warzones it will count as a lost game when you leave, but even that might not stop people from leaving, so better make it worthwhile to stick with your team).

 

Some players will leave anyway, even with a deserter penalty, but if BioWare add a deserter penalty to the game as it is now after patch 1.2, I am pretty sure even more people would stop to play the warzone alltogether.

This. It's a game, punishments make people stop playing pvp or the game.

Fix the rewards back to pre 1.2, add an afk vote kick, make sure matches don't start 5 vs 8 or 6 vs 8 and then add deserter buff.

 

Problem solved.

pre 1.2 I was all for a deserter debuff. Currently? No thanks as I have no reason wasting my time with a fail team since the rewards are crap. Even then I'd rather bail and get a 30 min debuff then play a 15 minute match and get nothing for my effort.
