New Artifice Schematics almost a slap in the face

I'm severely disappointed that you even bothered to give artifices the new schematics for +41 crystals and then sell them for $250k credits.

Why am I upset?

There is nothing unique about it. People can buy the exact same crystals with raghoul points, with wz credits, with regular credits. It's like you are saying here is a nice new thing you can make and then punch us in the gut at the same time just sucking the joy out of being able to make something new and unique. Why bother giving crafters any schematics if people can just buy the same item or better right off a vendor. It's just stupid and meaningless. There is no reason to level up to end game content for anything other than Artifact level Stims.

I have been wondering that myself even before the update, but being only one month "old" in this game i assumed maybe i was missing something.

Where i come from, crafting creates items that are better than vendor, no matter what vendor.

As it is, crafting in swtor is a big time and money sink but most the items you can make can be obtained faster, easier and cheaper via quest rewards, pvp, commendation, light/dark alignment.

I find this very disappointing.

I agree, obviously if you look at another certain game *cough* SWG *cough* the traders created a monopoly and raised prices on items with 1-5mil as a starting price.

Exactly. Players need protection from unregulated capitalism. The ONLY reason to be upset that an NPC sells something for $250k is that you want to sell it for more than that.

There was no "monopoly" on crafts in swg considering the resource system, the best crafted items used vary rare materials (By rare, in some cases vary high end resources for a given stat only poped up once or twice during the course of the game)

Pre-cu befor those vet rewards that made a item indestructible. All crafted items had been consumable they would eventually fall apart and need to be replaced. If you some how did obtain a monopoly by hording resources, your monopoly wouldnt last, due to the limited supply of resources.

Honestly SWG had the best crafting systems out of every online game i have played going back to MUD's.

First you might want to ask him how much time and credits are needed to get to craft that item that sells for 250k at the npc. But the main point is that for a crafter its discouraging when the items he crafts are available at npc vendors. Its not about profit at all, its about how pointless the effort invested in crafting is, if the items you can craft can be obtained from quests and vendors. If items similar to crafted are available at vendors, then items similar to raid loot should be available at npc vendors too.

Right after it starts taking 8 to 16 people working together to make crafted stuff. Crafting is pretty much a solo thing, which makes it different. Lots of other things you can get through soloing are available on vendors too.

Couldn't agree with the OP more.

It just like in real life, I have this thing that costs me about $100 to make that I could sell to people, but what the point? They are already buying the same thing for someone else for $10,000. Someone who will never, regardless of what I do, lower his price.

I mean I guess I COULD sell it for $9,000 and then everyone would buy from me and I would make like $8,900 ever time someone buys one ... but ...

HOLY CRAP WHY AM I COMPLAINING??????

So in your opinion whats the point of investing time and effort (not to mention credits) in crafting when you can get same items faster and cheaper from quests, comendations, light/dark vendors, etc.
