Recruit Gear

I've heard that Recruit gear is supposed to help new people jump into PVP but I played for about 5 hours today and did not see one piece of recruit gear and I checked a lot of people. It was disheartening to notice game after game that the people in fresh 50 pve gear did not have any recruit gear on at all (these people got facerolled unbelievably fast).

My question is: Why is no one buying this stuff?

Because it's Blue and no one wants to wear blues at 50?

Because the main stat/endurance is so low?

Too much money? (god i hope not)

Whatever the reason this appears to be a further gaff by Bioware. Besides the fact PVP is horrible right now, no one is buying ur new set of gear designed to level the playing field...

I'm so disheartened with PVP right now.

That's the problem I see too. You lose so much endurance. But Bioware claims the expertise makes up for it. I heard "They tested columi versus recruit in pvp and recruit was better." I find that really hard to believe.

If it really was the intent, then it's an absolute fail.

It's better than Centurion because of the expertise boost, but stats are about as bad, so it remains vastly inferior to Champion which was close to BM and quite fast to get with dailies (I've had 3 pieces in 5 days and should have bought a 4th seeing how expertise and recrue suck and how BM is now unbuyable unless you're PL'd by some bulldozer team).

Don't be fooled by the orange armor pieces either, as it could very well be BM sets transfered to lambda armors.

Yeah! Recruit did 5% more damage probably... not accounting for the loss of ~15% hit points against lvl 49 crafted gear which itself is already crap compared to higher tiers PvP or even PvE armors.

Haha yes, cause they claim to have actually tested something.

My sorcerer alt is in full recruit gear and statwise it's maybe slightly less than centurion with slightly more expertise. I max out at 13.7k hp and around 15.3k with a fortitude stim and BH buff. If i remember correctly i had around 1.1k endurance and 1.2k willpower.

It seems to be worse than champion gear in everyway, sure you get a little more expertise, but the stat drop is very high.

My personal favorite thing about the recruit gear and the "new" BM gear is all the accuracy on it. They even admit that there was too much accuracy in the previous incarnation at the guild summit. Then, they get the chance to redo it, guess what, more accuracy!

I actually did replace a piece of centurion gear with recruit gear, but compared to the old champion gear, recruit gear is bad. As for why people aren't in full recruit yet, I have to think it's because they can't afford it.

BW really went overboard with the credit sinks on the legacy system, and I think a lot of people bought some "cool" legacy stuff, then realized they were broke after getting only 2 abilities. I was all for the changes coming in 1.2, but now, after seeing how they implemented it, I'd rather go back to my dying server with the 1.1.5 patch. At least yesterday I could get some rewards for my time by playing garbage man in the Ilum PvP area.

I am not optimistic about the future of this game after the patch today. :(

The gear is not good. But a decent start. and BM gear is not expensive.

The real problem is that the BM gear becomes expensive if you are on a one sided server, because BW doesnt reward the losing team at all. This is the real problem.
