... when every blast bolt and arrow goes through it?

I'll give you that a medieval knight could be beaten to death through his dull suit of steel armor, but space-age future-past armor I expect better of.

If you saw a soldier with a gun that didn't have a type of uniform, they would be shot before thought.

Pretty much, the armor was more so uniform for distinguishing ally from foe.

Watch Star Wars again. When the Stormtroopers are boarding the corvette at the start of the movie, a few bolts fired by the Rebels glance off the stormtroopers' armor. Why does this happen? Because those Rebels are not the heroes of the story.

That. Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and others are the heroes, which is why every one of their shots fells a foe, even the ones in armor. Moreover, the arrows by the teddy bears that killed/injured stormtroopers in ROTJ did so through body gloves between armor. Note how much more effective clonetrooper armor was in AOTC - of course Lucas also had a decade or two to perfect the look of the armor, over the plastic stuff he'd used in the original trilogy.

One of the troopers is hit in the back with an arrow at the start of the fight., it pierces the armor not the body glove.

Also we see storm teooper armor crack and break as they fall over

Intimidation factor, they scare 99% of people so much no one wants to shoot at them. You see if that 99% realized how crappy their armor was, they would most likely overthrow the Empire.

The armor is useless in the movies because they are the bad guys and it is more interesting seeing a ton of baddies getting killed on screen than having the blaster shots get deflected. Outside of the movies the armor is actually quite good and does actually serve a purpose in protecting them as well as regulating body temperature in harsh climates(Hoth, Tatoine, etc..)

That has more to do with how the costume was made, not how actually stormtrooper armor would behave.

due to the way Star Wars canon works what we see in the movies is how it actually happens.

So when Hans blaster fires and causes a fiery explosion on a wall then thats what a blaster actually does even though it doesn't do that when it hits other objects.

So storm trooper armor creacking when they fall over then thats what really happens.

Beleive me I agree its completely stupid and its all the fault of incredibly obsessive fanboys who try to use science to explain a fictional movie not based in reality.

doesn't matter what we see in the movies is how it actually is. So if in a book a stormtrooper can take 5 blaster shots and in the movie he can only get hit by 1. then we go by the movie standard.

it was ridiculous when ewoks were throwing rocks at them

And people complained how the gungans 'degraded' the story...

In holywood movies all armour is made of paper. Whether you survive being hit depends on if you get to wear the invisible 'hero armour' for a fight.

If you are a member of the Legion of Doom you get to wear it at the start to establish how unstoppable and cruel you are. But if you get into a bit of a tussle with the Hero then it is transfered to him and you end up wearing paper. Unless of course the plot demands that the hero is to be captured. Then half your squad gets to wear the paper armour (can't have the hero go down without a fight to proof how ****** he is right?) .

Once the alarm sounds in the Secret Lair or the Impenetrable Fortress of the Legion of Doom that the Hero has escaped from the dungeon it is high time to change into the most resilient armour left to you (civilian clothing) and make yourself scarce.

In the case of Han Solo, I doubt his blaster is exactly to civilian spec if you catch my meaning.

Exactly my thinking. Han Solo probably has illegal mods making his blaster strong enough to pierce the armor. In aNH Luke is using a strom trooper blaster carbine which would more than likely be powerful enough to pierce ST armor. As to why Leia's blaster pistol did could be luck shot.

In tEST I don't beleive Luke or Han shot any storm troopers. Leia, Lando, and Chewie did but they all where walking around with Storm Trooper carbines aswell.

As for RotJ I can only really think of the fact that the ewoks outnumbered the storm troopers and used less than conventional means. Other than that \_(O.o)_/

We can assume it was luck or we can assume it was the force trying to create balance. There are lots of ways you can ******** what happened in the movie so that the universe can make an ounce of *********** sense. If we go entirely by the movie then I think it is safe to say Ewoks are the most powerful race in the galaxy and should be building an empire of their own in Episode 7, 8, and 9 if those are ever made cause no *********** way Thrawn could handle the Ewok master race's *********** rocks.
