djalexa
Hello Bioware, hello dear Community! I want to thank you for this great game that I've played for almost 4 months continously! I want to thank you for all the fun moments I've shared together with my guildies and with my friends in Operations, Warzones and not only! I want to give you a big HEADS UP for this game! You have a solid game ongoing with a great story, great elements and some innovative features that will probably get polished more after each patch (hopefully)! I want to say Thank You for everything this game offered me and my friends in terms of fun, challanges, curiosity and more! But it is time for me to move along! Even if this is a goodbye thread and 99 % of the ''fanbois'' here will probably ''dismiss'' my post from the very beginning (though I find it a normal behaviour ), I have to take in consideration some aspects that contributed to my decision of leaving the game for good and waiting for something that can keep me occupied for a much longer time! This is solely from a subjective perspective, though a perspective from a player that has 3 lvl 50 characters, has been the GM of a TOP pvp guild on our first server and one of the best PVE guilds on the same server. Having reached valor rank 73 on my first toon, 4/5 Rakata (cleared the whole content), lvl 25 legacy etc, and started from SCRATCH on a new server, thus abandoning my worked out toon because our first server died slowly but surely, I started a new toon with most of my friends on a new server. Here are the critical points (for me, and no one has to share them or accept them - I repeat , this is SOLELY my point of view) that will need improvement or changed to bits, which actually made me leave the game: 1. The MMO Feeling of this game is limited, to purely NON-EXISTANT! The immersion in this game is actually shadowed and constrained by endless LOADING SCREEN/TIMES, Absurd Huge Zones that have their own feeling and cool design but they feel totally EMPTY and DEAD. Therefore, I consider this game a very very GOOD single player experience, touched with a few MMO elements. 2. This INSTANCED system for every class that you promote is not my kind of style in the end. It cuts the immersion and makes the game feel like a SINGLE PLAYER experience. 3. Being a Guild Master for years now and considering that a GUILD represents the heart of a specific community, the tie that binds players together, gets them closer to eachother, wanting to strive and prospere together is something that made me start a guild in SWTOR also! However, the simple guild system that you promote and the fact that a guild, in SWTOR represents NOTHING atm but a simple sepparate Chat Channel and a bunch of players tagged under the same name, felt really dissapoiting for me. Though I understand this game is still fresh, is still new, what felt even MORE dissapointing is the fact that with your biggest patch on the horizon (1.2) you are ONLY giving guilds the option for a Guild Bank! That's all? Dissapointing. I was expecting Guild Quests, Guild Achievements, Guild vs Guild Challanges, Guild Customization (such as Guild Emblems/Tabards and specific Signs), Guild Politics, Guild Housing etc. I know these features are not that easy to implement, not to mention control, but at least you could have tried and implement a few of them and see how things go on the long run. 4. Chat bubbles ! Yes, probably most of you will think this is a useless feature but for me it is a feature that adds to the immersion of the game, adds to the socialising factor and binds it. 5. The TOTAL LACK of world pvp and world pvp events / challanges / rewards based on that etc. After completely destroying Ilum, there is no incentive for anyone at the moment to roam the planets in search of enemy players and PVP. Hence, the IDLE-ing in the fleet has became the new national sport in the wait for the next warzone queue to pop. And I am not judge-ing anyone regarding this. I actually understand them and I was doing the same. Travelin to specific planets takes A LOT of time (via Starship. loading times, the huge-ness of zones that makes players uninterested in them after the leveling experience has ended) etc. 6. Lack of character customization (though this feature is subject to change and it will change). At this point, everyone looks the same. There is no customization, no variety, no diversity and EVEN if 1.2 will bring a new set of gear and some gear customization options, I am afraid that the Variety of characters will still remain the same on the long run. 7. Game performance and stability! I have a very strong rig and I never had any problems FPS wise with any game played so far (including different MMORPGS). However, Star Wars is causing me some problems (sometimes) regarding FPS issues that make me wonder if this engine is actually capable of sustaining future implementations such as massive organised pvp (Ilum proved it doesn't) and not only. Even if the game runs fine most of the time, there are some zones and warzones that cut my fps and this cuts the fun and not only. There are probably the most important things for me that need tweeking and I am sure that most of the will get sorted out. However, I am afraid that some of the things I've mentioned will take a LOT of time until they will be revised. Don't take me wrong, I am not bashing the game! As I've already stated I had GREAT times in this game (the PVP was great and the operations/fps were also cool even if they still need work and fixes) but seing the big picture, the game doesn't actually lived up for me as I would have expected. And seeing that TERA, GW2 and other promising titles are on the horizon, I am at least not worried that I wont have anything to do in my free time Thank for EVERYTHING and I really hope this game will become a better and polished game in the future! Have fun everyone and good luck! p.s. You can't have my stuff as I already shared it with my guild members
