Less Human-like Races to Choose from

As a throwback to 77' Star Wars, particularly the cantina scene. I have to ask if there is a possibility to have a completely non-human looking choice as a character. The current selection seems to be very tame compared to what it could be.

Why not let players have one or two completely 'alien' looking races to choose from. I see them in the game and think this every time I come across one.

Duros - Cad Bane

Rodian - Greedo

Wookie - Chewie

Sullusian - Nien Nunb (haven't seen one yet but would be cool)

Nautolan - Kit Fisto

Mon Calamari - Gial Ackbar

Bothan- Koth Melan

Trandoshan - Bossk

Kel Dor - Plo Koon

Just a friendly suggestion and probably has come up before in the developer phase. Yes, there are some of us that would love to be a wookie with grunts and groans then a blue ken doll that talks like clint eastwood.

I miss my Mon Cal from SWG. His name was Shoal (as in where squid like to live).

Rodians and Wookies were available in that game too, but I think the lack of non-humanoid aliens in SWTOR also has to do with the era we're supposed to be playing in (less interstellar amalgamation?). I dunno.

My favorite race in the Star Wars universe are the Ithorians, but I'll probably never get to play one.

The official reason we don't have them is because they only want species that speak basic, and are worried that they would have to make some wild and crazy story differences for them, despite that these races have already been coexisting at this point for a few thousand years.

Personally, I think the reason is due to lack of imagination.

Because the story is so driven by voice acting they don't want the main character to just growl or gargle the whole time (e.g. wookies or rodians). They also don't want to rerecord voice acting for a specific species with a specific vocal style (e.g. mon calamari).

They also don't want to have playable races whose physical qualities prevent them from wearing normal armor in all the armor slots (e.g devaronians, togruta, etc.).

Togruta can speak basic, so do kel dor, and Devaronians. As for the races that don't speak basic, just use subtitles? Like you have for every other specie in swtor that doesn't speak basic?

Oh, no, that wouldn't get annoying very quickly. I think we are much more likely to see species that speak basic or can be made to speak basic expanded in the game than we are to see subtitles for playable species.

Rodian's actually CAN speak basic, though it's said that they do so with a lisp and a funny accent. So Rodians COULD be possible, they'd just have the same armor restrictions as Twi-leks, and they'd have to get a voice actor to do a lisp the whole time.

I'm still hoping for Rodians to be added. They're my favorite Star Wars species and it'd be pretty dang awesome to play as one in TOR.
