Wakkatata
So, it's an idea that came to me last night when a warzone queue popped and I was chatting with some guildies. It's a little bit of a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing and I decided I would post it on here and see if the idea gets popular and grows into a reality. Guild Based Warzones. I'll answer a few questions first. Q: How does queuing work? A: On the warzone queue screen are three options. "Queue Group" "Queue Solo" and "Leave Queue". Well now there's a fourth option. "Queue Guild". In which the Guild Master (or a high ranking officer, with the "Warzone leader" privilege enabled.) has to initiate the ready check. All participating guild members then either accept to be queued into the warzone or decline. Parameters can be set such as level, guild ranks, and gear. The guild is then placed in a queue just as with any other matchmaking system. Q: How is this different than just queuing with an ops group full of guild members? A: This adds a whole new aspect to being in a guild, there are PvE guilds, and even RP guilds but how many purely PvP guilds are there? A guild ranking system will be implemented, showing which guilds have won the most battles and who has lost the most, also how many kills/flag captures/objectives completed each guild has. Guild traits such as, bonus XP when questing with guild members, bonus legacy points for all members for being part of higher ranking guilds, and participating in their campaigns throughout the galaxy. Legacy and title unlocks for taking part in certain guild only events, showing that your grandfather was part of the Great Battle for Hoth between two of the most powerful groups in history. Q: How many guild members could participate at once? A: The number of members able to take part in each warzone would vary between each one. Several new warzones would be introduced into the game, specifically for guild battles. An infiltration into the opposing guilds base would only require an elite group of five to ten guild members, while large scale wars would recruit nearly thirty members. Q: How does this change my view of being in a guild? A: You've always been a fan of being in guilds that love to PvP, every time you play a game you take the path of the gladiator, choosing to hunt down and kill other players to get to the end game content. With the Guild Ranking System, you can browse through the guilds based on how well they perform at PvP. You're a fan of PvE? Not only does the system track PvP achievements but PvE as well, how many Raids the guild has completed, feedback from members, failed raids (wipes) and the schedule for the guilds raiding. No more talking in general chat to ask if any guilds are recruiting. Also, with the guild perks, you have extra incentive for being in a guild, Legacy Unlocks, including a guild "tabard" handed down through your family tree, speeder unlocks, titles, unique crystals, and even guild ranking-based gear. Q: Whats to stop me from joining a highly ranked guild just to get those advantages? A: Nothing, for some of those advantages, such as the ranking-based gear, but most of the advantages are based on how much you participate in guild activities such as warzones and raids, even questing in full guild groups. A meter called Guild Prestige is the measurement for everything you've done with you fellow guild mates. Every time you participate in something, you gain Prestige experience, and edge ever closer to that green crystal with blue lightning swirling about it, that your guild is so infamous for. Q: How exactly does a "Guild Warzone" work? A: First we re-work the guild officer ranks. Giving them meaning. Sure you can name your guilds ranks and make them have a few special privileges, but beyond that everyone's the same in your guild. Now, these ranks have real value in Guild Warzones, You're guild title is "Siegemaster"? This gives you access to a plethora of new responsibilities. Each warzone will have situations where certain members have to make decisions, where to set spawn points in the battle field, where to focus artillery fire, even placement of orbital strikes. You're the Chief Engineer and that army of droids is headed into a republic ambush? Reroute them to flank the ambushers and get the jump on them. Direct your guilds NPC forces in the battlefield and ensure a swift victory. Overall I think it's a great and unique idea (correct me if I'm wrong) and I would love to have this to look forward to in a future patch or expansion. This alone would keep me playing for a very long time. You're input is much appreciated and any further ideas are welcomed. Thanks for reading Edit 1: Guild Ranked Position Idea. Defense Captain, general of your guilds defenses, strategically places defensive forces (Turrets, troops, and mines) to stop invaders in their tracks, and decides where fallen troops will be dropped in. Roccobb
I don't want a random pop up asking me if I want to join the Que. And how does it work? The first 10 to accept are accepted? For a 10 person wz I mean.

For a 10 person wz I mean. You have to opt yourself into the queue, events would likely be scheduled in advance and you can sign up for them. The only thing that would pop-up would be a ready check for those already in the queue, just like when you queue normally, if you aren't ready you simply don't click. It wouldn't be something that just pops up randomly, if it pops up then you knew you were queued with your guild.

mycommando
I posted this somewhere else but you could have each person leading a small group of companionlike npcs that fight heal or tsnk for you.

You posted this thread somewhere else? Or the companion NPC's idea? Great idea I like it, but I feel like that's a lot of micro managing to do when you're also trying to fight. Sure they'd have AI, and it could probably be worked into something simple, it just seems more reasonable to have attacking troops, sort of like a MOBA style game, that are on attack paths to "waypoints" that are set by the "Siegemaster" of each guild.
