DKev
Can someone please explain to me (a level 10 IA noob about to choose my advanced class) the differences in the two classes with regards to range (distance) and cover. Does the range of you weapons decrease form 30 t0 10 if you choose Operative or am I just not understanding correctly. Or is it just that the Op has extra abilities and that the Sniper has stronger shots. if the only difference between the blaster rifle and sniper rifle is the strength and I can still get some extra abilities I may go with operative. I do however feel I may require some distance until I'm more experienced with the class so I may decide to go sniper. Anyway, please respond in the simplest possible way as I am new to the mmo experience and not up on all the terminology. Thanks for any insight. Mnemonica
The Sniper AC is just what it sounds like. Ranged damage, I believe from 35 meters w/an equipped Sniper Rifle. You utilize cover and wail on your opponents. The Operative AC is more melee focused, taking advantage of knife skills. With the operative class, you also get the option to be a healer, as well as stealth abilities. If you prefer a more kinetic, fast paced combat, I'd recommend the Operative. If you're a planner and want to do damage from afar, Sniper is for you.
Kironev
For both classes they get the base Imperial Agent attacks, both will have snipe, shiv, and the like. For snipers they get different shots, such as ambush which is a hard hit on a 15s cooldown. There are other ones, just can't remember the names right now. They are a more distance fighter overall. They have no healing abilities at all. The skill trees are all dps (damage) oriented. They can be an in close fighter with the Lethality tree. For operatives they have stealth, heals, and more attacks with the vibroknife. They still have the option of being more of a ranged dps class with one of the skill trees, while they also can be full healer, or in close dps using the Lethality tree (which is shared with the snipers). It really depends on how you want to play. I currently have a 33 sniper and I enjoy it. It can be rough without a heal, but there is always the biochem crew skill to get powerful med packs that can apply a small heal over time effect after it's initial health boost. Someone in my guild has a 26 operative, and he's having a blast stabbing things from stealth. If you want to have a self heal, then operative would be the way you want to go. Hope this helps. ButterStrawKid
do yourself a favor and re-roll any other class other than IA as we are seriously underpowered expecially snipers
Fumanchu_Fow
do yourself a favor and re-roll any other class other than IA as we are seriously underpowered expecially snipers Do yourself a favor and ignore people like this. He clearly hasn't figured out how to play yet. It's not faceroll easy like other classes mostly due to the fact that we have to wait till our mid to late level 30's to get a healing companion but at 50 with proper gear a good sniper is a welcome addition to any group. KurganNazzir
They have no healing abilities at all. The skill trees are all dps (damage) oriented. Not entirely true. There is a skill (Vital Regulators) in Engineering that lets my Adrenaline Probe heal me for '6% of my total health over 3 seconds'. I've only needed to use it a few times, though, as my damage output is pretty good; especially if I'm running with a DPS companion like I normally do. I personally really enjoy my Sniper. I enjoy my Interrogation Probe, Plasma Probe, and Cluster Bombs a little too much, I think. Once you've played enough, you get to where it doesn't take long at all to set up your shot other than waiting on induction. I can run up, drop into cover, and be inducting Ambush in just a couple of seconds, if that's what I choose to do. Normally, I drop my Plasma Probe, then use Ambush because Ambush is about to fire by the time Plasma Probe does it's first 'tick'; plus, Plasma Probe can sometimes kill a mob on its own.
