Meeting your other characters in a quest (Legacy idea)

It would be great if finishing a class quest line unlocked a special legacy quest that is accessible by your other characters. The quest would involve meeting your own character and it would be set up with an introduction explaining some of the choices the character made during the story. Conversations will allow you to choose dialogue options for both characters.

 

For example, meeting my consular in the Jedi Council as a knight.

This would probably be time-consuming to make, but I don't care because it would be soooooo cooool.

 

I want my Sith and my Jedi to get in a lightsaber fight.

I don't care if opposite faction characters are controlled by AI during combat, just so long as they are the player's characters. That and all characters belonging to the same player appearing at once can be controlled in dialogue. Then again, would it be better to have characters made by the same player fight in controllable cinematic style? Edited by Nichos_Ketra

I think this could work fine in a limited fashion.

 

They could simply put one or more of your alts in a cantina somewhere, and just animate them sitting there, talking, maybe dancing. It would be client-side of course (I'm pretty sure that's not hard for them to do even if it's not a cutscene.) Just something kinda cool and screenshot worthy.

I believe they already mentioned something similar like this at the Guild Summit which will happen in 1.2. I guess just wait till it's released and see what happens.

Bump.

 

One legacy quest per class is fine. After finishing the class storyline, the legacy quest becomes unlocked. The other three classes (same faction for now) can access the legacy quest. Based on the "guest" class, there will be differences in the dialogue, but the overall quest structure will be the same. For example, a Jedi knight would react to a Smuggler differently than a Jedi Consular. Key choices made during the game will reflect upon how the legacy character is introduced. Players control the dialogue options for both the legacy character and the guest character.

 

My suggestion is to keep the interaction to cut-scenes for simplicity. As cool as it would be to have your other characters fighting along side you, it would be strange to have the AI control them.

It would be really cool though to run a mission every once in a while populated with your alts even if they were AI controlled. While the legacy system is nice from a mechanical standpoint, from an immersion standpoint it seems rather lacking. Having an occasional way to interact in a story form would really help take the legacy thing to the next level.
