Melee needs a counter to taunt.

You already eat far too many aoe's as a melee dps...let's count the ways someone who isn't even bothering to target you can mess with your life as melee:

 

-Knockback(in various form)(20-30s cd)

-Flashbang(1m cd)

-Roar(1m cd)

-Taunt(45s cd)

-Slows(various, ranging from no cd to light cd)

-Root (applied mostly from knockbacks)

-There's probably more, but the foam from my mouth got on my keyboard and I lost my train of thought frantically wiping it up.

 

Throw that in with these objective maps that already favor ranged dps (huttball especially and voidstar as well) and playing melee can really become a nightmare. Rated will only get worse.

 

So if you put it in perspective I'm not asking for much, basically only that you give melee dps a way to cleanse taunts a cd similar to the aoe taunt cd. Either that, or take it away from all non-tanks. Kthanks bye.

1. Save your trinket for when your resolve is full, trust me it only takes like 2 knockbacks for that to happen. After that snare and kill they can't do anything to stop it.

 

2. If your trinket is on cooldown, snare and just walk them down, they can't do anything to stop it. Melee dominate this game if they know what they're doing.

 

As for taunts, everyone is effected by taunts the same way. Less QQ more skill.

Agreed. Anything the OP listed can affect a ranged too, so combined with their higher dmg on target and great survival cooldowns I don't feel too bad for em.

 

There's a reason everyone is FOTMing melee classes right now, and it's certainly not because they suck.

Taunt really has no counters but the most dangerous class with taunt, Assassins, tend to get focus fired anyway. I mean, it's a range 30 resource free instant cast ability off GCD. A counter would be something that can stop taunt that uses no resources and it doesn't exist. Locating the person who taunted you is a significant resource usage (you got to find the guy, and he probably isn't the guy you want to be attacking in the first place).

Idk about you but when I use my Unleash ( trinket as you call it ... WoW players...) it clears my resolve bar... I can get stunned right after I use it... Happens allll the time.

Yea remove Juggernauts and Guardians from the game, their uber dps and heavy armor are so OP anyway, just have all of them moved to something more balanced like Shadow/Assasin Tanks...

 

Come on BW, lets get these OP classes under control. Please also nerf OPs and Scounderals again for fun!

 

Lets concentrate on buffing up those poor Sorc's and BH's !!!

 

also please remove leap completely in pvp, and lightsabers!!!!!

 

it's not like tanks in this game aren't ready to unsub in mass or anything.

Idk about you but when I use my Unleash ( trinket as you call it ... WoW players...) it clears my resolve bar... I can get stunned right after I use it... Happens allll the time.

 

Thats just not true. I know for a 100% fact it doesn't clear resolve.

I'm curious after looking at the list that you just made, what made you decide to go w/ Taunts to nerf?

They could make it so taunts can only be used when in a tanking stance. Then again, it's only a 30% reduction for 6 seconds, it's not the most major debuff in the world.

 

So basically every dps spec'd tank AC would lose access to their AC's utility.

 

I'd be fine w/ this if we make it so that only 31-point spec'd healers could heal their teammates, and raised the dps of all spec'd dps to the level of Mara/Sniper.

 

Then this might be a balanced idea. : )

Because of what I listed, taunts are the only thing without a reasonable counter. They're all annoying, but taunt has no DR.

 

The bigger issue is really how many taunts there are out there, and how mindless it is to just hit it in a group of melee and prevent 10k damage easily (as a dps).

Always thought that having a taunt switch the taunted player's target to the taunter would be an interesting mechanic.

 

Fire off the taunt and the target of the taunt has the taunter as target for {X} time or Taunt is a channeled effect that forces the target switch for the duration of the taunt channel.

 

Count damage dealt to the taunter during the taunt effect by the taunted target as protection damage is also a possibility.

 

Just saying there are other means to execute the concept of a taunt than ability A nerfs damage by X on target B.
