Hey! First off, Great Game! I have never posted to a forum before so please excuse me however there is something that is bothering me pretty badly that I want to put out there and see if I am the only one, (Highly Doubted!)...

Apparently it is insanely hard borderline impossible to obtain certain color crystals and or other items in the game unless you pend countless hours of your real life in game. Example, the purple lightsaber crystal. Whats the big deal? Why can't it be more like KOTRii where an individual can completely customize and personalize their weapon? The BIG pet peeve and the reason I started this is why can't you pick up weapons dropped by NPC's or others and use them for your own or reverse engineer them, break them down into components to make a completely new weapon? I realize this would be a fairly massive undertaking on the programmers shoulders but it really would take this game to a new level of realism! One more thing, why the EFF do certain things such as speeders cost SO MUCH?!? I can understand a speeder costing 7 or 8 grand or so but A MILLION? Come on guys... Make this game fun for the guys and gals like me that are casual players... for the people who don't live in the game... It is very discouraging to log in and be stuck somewhere just because you don't have enough money to get there... Don't these space ships use ION Drives? Since When did and Ion Drive need fuel? Or to look at the speeders and know you could never possibly save that insane amount of credits in the amount of time you have available a week to play...

If there's anyone else out there that reads this and feels the same, can I get a Hell Yea?

You guys could seriously make the game more fun if you fixed just a couple of these things, especially the lightsaber deal... Sorry for ranting and raving... Thanks for all the hard work and BS you guys go through to keep us playing!

????? um not sure what your grip is? All these things your saying should be in the game pretty much are. You can customize your weapon if you have one that is modifiable. Same with armor.

If you have the right skill to reverse engineer a looted weapon you can. But you must have the applicable crafting skill to do so. Such as if you loot a blaster you must be an armstech to reverse engineer it.

Guess what rank 1 speeders...........you guessed it cost about 8K. Only the end game rank 3 speeder has one that cost 1mil. You don't need that speeder. It's more of a vanity item. A status symbol to say. " yeah that's right I got money"

Yes some ships have ION drives. But guess what if I remember right Star Wars starships ION drives don't work in atmosphere. So you need fossil fuel engines to land and take off.( on this I could be wrong but I believe this is the reason).

So not being a jerk I ask again what is your grip.

Star Wars starships use hyperdrive engines to get from star system to star system. Those use fuel, and the further a starship travels (and the more massive it is and larger and more capable the hyperdrive is), the more fuel it uses.

Concur on the speeders. The Level 25 speeders aren't that expensive.

I think I understand what Grandma Sterwest means.*

I was kind of disappointed that my Jedi Counselor didn't start out with a light saber. I mean, hello, it's a Star Wars game, and you're playing a Jedi character. Kind of a given.

But then when I finally did get to the point where I made my own saber, it was pretty darn cool.

It's the same with the other stuff. You have to earn it in MMORPGs. Otherwise there's no reason to keep paying them to play.

Some of us (like me) will take longer to get the good stuff. And that's OK. If we're having fun playing the game, then we don't have to keep up with the young whippersnappers who spent their winter break leveling up to 50 by playing all day every day.

My advice is to enjoy the ride! You'll get there, in your own time.

The game has to appeal to everyone, so they have to have rewards for the people who spend every waking moment in the game. Rewards that a lot of others might not bother with. Such as end-game epic raid drops and super-expensive stuff. Though getting that million doesn't have to be very difficult to achieve with a few minutes spent every few days, you just gotta know how.

I too would totally love it if we could have a "What you see drops" policy for the mobs! I always loved this in games and I think it's part of what makes games like Oblivion awesome.

Having that in TOR would totally rock my boat, but it will never happen.

Killing off some random mob just because he had some super-awesome looking gear would be great and it would add a LOT of variety to the game in terms of appearances of the players. Of course, this gear would have to be moddable so it could be used indefinitely.

Now I want this feature in the game. I *demand* it. :D

I for one feel the same way. The speeders do cost waaaay too much! As does the training skills when you level up. I grind and grind in a game, send my companions out for mats and use the auction house to sell things, and I still cant keep up with the cost of skills to level up. I am a casual player and have not played now for about a month because of it. And Im thinking of canceling my subscription. I work a 40 hour week and spend time with my family on the weekends, yeah I know you gamer geeks with no life are going to flame me, but its all good! :D

This game is not what I expected, it is pretty cool, but just not as flexible as I had thought it would be.

The story line when first played is pretty neat, but it soon loses its appeal due to the narrow path one must follow when leveling up. I would like to have seen more flexibility in the game, so I dont have to stick to one world while leveling up. For instance, I absolutely detest the world Taris. The mats are virtually non-existant and the storyline sucks.

Guilds have no banks. A major flaw, the programmers should have put this at the top of the list of things to have accomplished prior to game launch! Bank space costs waaaay too much as well.

Sorry if I sound like a broken record, but the costs vs. income in the game are very unbalanced.

I bought the game the day it came out and gamed fairly hard up until the end of last month, it just got old trying to make ends meet in the game. Like I said, I have not played in a month now. I logged in tonight to play, picked up my first quest and logged back out. I guess the shiny has lost its sparkle. I play WOW as well, and have gone back to it!! How sad is that!

So guys, time to make some changes or I think you may start losing players.

Ok so first of all speeders don't cost that much unless your really insane i mean seriously it's the difference between buying a limo and a Honda civic the limo doesn't neccissarily run better it is just a symbol of power or wealth now I'm not going to waste money on something like that and if your smart you'll know not to either. If by some miraculous incident I realize "hey look I just happen to have a few million bucks on hand and I can't spend it fast enough":D then you can go get rid of a lot of your money by buying your million credit speeder but in my opinion its a waste of time now when you do reach lv 25 I was kind of upset because I figured I'd just buy an 8000 credit speeder I was upset to find out that I had to pay 40000 credits for some stupid training i mean seriously do you pay ore for driving lessons than a car? Answer: not unless your going to some top notch school for driving and your buying a used beat up car. A more reasonable price would be between 5000-10000 credits. Now about the finances look its easy to get a lot of money just do space missions over and over great way to earn some quick creds. Even if you don't do that just do every single side mission to earn money. For example I went to Taris shortly after I realized I needed 40000 creds for speeder training and by the time I had finished my story line missions and all the side missions including all the heroic missions done once through I had over 70000 creds and I was only lv 26. I mean what's your problem are you guys just lazy or something because I get a high rate of money from doing every single mission I come across I mean I accept the space missions everytime I'm aboard my ship. What I'm trying to say is that you cant just sit there and wait for major income you hae to put in the effort to do the missions. Not only is doing side missions profitable but its also entertaining and fun.:D

cost of things in the game don't seem too bad considering how much is coming in. I grinded for 2 hours for a crystal I thought was supposed to be rare and expensive, and got that the same day as Dark Side speeder, so that's not bad for 2 days of dailies and a sale on the GTN of an epic. So the idea that the items and purple crystal is hard to get is a laugh. It took a little longer to get level 50 speeder training, but even not playing every day those 3 which were on my checklist all happened within a week. At level 50 credits aren't hard to get and it doesn't take long at all, but they are boring to get.

Can you say friggin boring man!!! I dont get on a game to do the same old crap over and over to make money!!! This does not keep people interested in the game. Atleast it doesnt keep me interested!! It would be so much better if this game was not so linear. Why should we be limited to one stupid planet at a time to level up!!

All Im saying is that this game is NOT what I had envisioned. Maybe it is for alot of gamers, but for me it is "prettier" than WOW and the game dynamics (classes, companions, weapons, armor, etc... ) are nice. But the actual gameplay for me has gotten boring, and very quickly!!!! I absolutely hate that I am stuck on one stupid planet while leveling up!! I mean cmon, atleast give me another area to go and play in to break up the monotony!!!!

I dont know, maybe my expectations were just too high for this game, and maybe WOW spoiled me by allowing me to hit 3 or 4 different areas to level up and explore!!

All I know is that I want to play this game, but as soon as I log on, the desire abruptly ends and I log back off. I logged on for the first time last night in a month, and was only logged in for maybe 3 minutes.

I thought maybe if I just gave it a break I would eagerly get back in to it, but alas, that is not the case...................................

I fear if something does not change, it will be another one of those games I have purchased and only play for a couple of months before it starts collecting space dust!!

Those complaining about this... this must be your first MMO. Try educating yourself on the definition and purpose of money and time sinks. That's what MMO's are all about.

They WANT you to have to spend a lot of in-game time to get stuff, so you keep your monthly subscription going.

If it's not for you then it's time to move on to a different kind of game.

Well Omega I have to tell you that I have been playing PC games since they came out, including MMO's. My first PC was a commodore colt. (Now Im giving away my age LOL:p)

This game is pretty cool, but it has gotten boring very quickly and that can be fixed, thats all Im saying. Hell I played Diablo and Diablo II forever, and those games are ancient!! TOR is one of those games that I got bored with very quickly, and I didnt expect that.

If bio wants my money so bad, they will listen to what alot of people are voicing opinions about. Because sooner or later they are going to start losing subscriptions. Just read some of the forum posts, and to me it seems possibly sooner.

I for one may only give them another couple of months to install new patches to see if the game play is increased. If not, then I will be canceling my subscription.

WOW for me was a good game to jump into and waste away a couple of hours when I wanted, but after the cataclysm expansion, I dropped my sub there as well, that expansion pretty much sucked. So I played Rift as a hold over until TOR came out. Rift got old quickly, so I embraced TOR and now I am just as disappointed with it as the other MMO games out there.

I dont know what to say other than if you honestly enjoy the game, then game on and have fun.

I am just voicing my opinion, thats all.

hey remember the days before Windows and it was ALL MSDOS, and not just loading up MSDOS instead of Windows for gaming, and colored screens and it was all text and there were no graphics as such save for white dots on a screen and being totally blown away you were actually using a computer?

actually kind of sums up Bioware's approach to this game. Why progress when the good old days were just so good although you can take away what people have whinged about but not replace it with anything to make up for what's been taken away? Why look to these dang modern games which are progressing and taking on new directions and ask why they are and why they include content and why some restrictions are there to encourage working towards over time?

How about the original Master of Orion? I played the heck out of that game! And let's not forget the original Wing Commander!

This game is too casual for a standard MMO player.. have you ever played an MMo before??

This has got to be a troll post....OP had me until complaining about the cost of flying a ship and being stuck on a planet because of not having enough credits.

Then quite frankly you're doing something wrong. Never once on my Lvl 50 Jedi did I have any real problem paying for training or even the speeders at 25/40 or 50.

send my companions out for mats

And here's what you're doing wrong. Never send companions out to collect mats unless you have a nice bit of cash saved up. Doing so will drain your bank account pretty quickly, from 10 to 35 or so.

so I dont have to stick to one world while leveling up.

You're on any given world for maybe 4 or so levels after you get off the starter world. Some might seem like they last forever but they don't. Plus once you get into the mid 30's you can actually consider skipping a whole world, other then class quests if you want.

sorry I have to disagree

you have to have something in the game that's hard and takes a lot of time, so that the ppl who play 5+ hours a day have something to do.

you'll notice bioware is very adamant about trying to make this game appeal to as many people as possible

if you dont have those rare items in the game then certain ppl wont play.

i like your example of the speeders costing a lot. but look at the upgrade you're getting they're in 10% increments. that's NOT going to make or break your gaming experience.

if you're that type of player then good, they're there for you. if not, that's cool too, you dont need it to enjoy the game or be competitive.

sorry, i think things are fine. . .in fact i think that there should be MORE rare and uber expensive items in the game for those types of players
