Thanks for the post, should be helpful here to a rather new 50.

Are you basically recommending Survivor gear (for the set bonus I presume?) with Stalker mods and enhancements?

So shield and absorb are not that worthwhile in PVP, and crit and surge are a better choice even for tank builds?

I wouldn't even push that hard for Crit but that's a personal choice. Energize provides autocrit on shock, so our bread and butter ability sees no benefit from that stat. Surge, however, is a huge benefit just on that alone, and it's increased through Power.

There's a balance to strike between the different stats. Find what works for you.

I haven't been able to find any cost information. I'm hoping its similar to how the Champion Token worked in that you could redeem any piece of gear for that slot.

Hopefully somebody with experience on PTS can chime in.

A lot more info has gone out since this post. Anyone know yet how the BM gear will work as a form of currency? Is it chest for chest, or only stalker chest for stalker chest? Anyone?

Personally I prefer a 33/0/8 build - By taking 2 out of improved shock and putting them into "Nerve Wracking" allows for better timed burst. It is overall more effective to your team than a small added % to pad your meters.

As for the Gear setup, I basically use 4p surv + 1p Stalk. Including the the bis offpieces. theres no real need to use a 5th piece when you're simply aiming for the bonus.

I agree you want a fine balance in pvp, and 4 pieces of surv is more than adequate with the 31/0/10 or similar builds. Provided you manage your cooldowns and play the build as intended.

Shock is our best HD builder + our 2nd best damage ability. Why on earth would you nerf the most used ability you have just to do 3% more damage to a spiked/electrocuted person? For 1 talent point, I would make that deal any day and twice on sunday.

If your going for 4pc surv, then your nerfing your damage. I hope your a tank in huttball or guarding a door/node in the other two WZs, otherwise your gimping your damage. 5% while guarding only helps if your guard is in range AND your guard is actually applied. Now if swopping out all the defensive mods for damage in your surv gear, then its probably not a bad deal, but personally I really love my 3 stack of Recklessness for burst.
