Carjitsu Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) Anyone that knows please comment. Is there a synergy with Parasitism + Haunting Presence and/or Empty body? Edited March 29, 2012 by Carjitsu
Daellia Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I've unfortunately not actually tested this. I'll test it tonight on the PTS (where respecs are effectively free), if it's not answered before then.
Carjitsu Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) Ok, thank you. Just bored with 13/28 (nice timing btw) and looking for alternative ways to PvP. Edited March 28, 2012 by Carjitsu
paul_preib Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Ok, thank you. Just bored with 13/28 (nice timing btw) and looking for alternatives ways to PvP. I dumped 13/28 about two days ago from a combination of trying out stuff for 1.2 and as you said a little bored with it. Ended up with a 23/0/18 heal/madness hybrid that so far seems fairly fun and effective. In alderaan/voidstar it is handy when stuck in smaller-group situations to be a dedicated healer then was someone (like a focused healer) needs an extra punch pop a quick reckless-->death field to give them an unexpected spike. In huttball it is nice to have solid dps on defense trying to help take down the ballcarrier/supporters, then turn around and either keep yourself healthy as a ballcarrier or more often support heal a tank with the ball. Yes it lacks the pure throughput of a bonafide healing or dps spec, but the short-term spike damage (say one death field-->force lightning-->wrath proc-->crushing darkness) is still pretty decent while the single-target healing is still quite solid, especially in situations like huttball where people are too spread out and mobile to use the aoe-hot anyway. It also is nice that you can adjust how you play as a solo queuer, in one Voidstar for example we were overstocked on healers and didn't have enough damage dealers to punch through, so on the attacker phase I went 90% dps. In another I was the only healer so aside from a couple death fields I was solely heal-focused. Yes you give up plenty to have the versatility, the overload root was especially painful and your force-efficiency is so-so (but not as bad as first-glance would seem because you aren't using the big high-force costing abilities nearly as often), though a couple times when 'attacker' I jumped off the bride in voidstar for fast regen.
Carjitsu Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 Thank you for your input Paul... any insights on PARASITISM (lol). Luv ya my brother but I am after info on synergies.
Carjitsu Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 (edited) Where is my Daellia with his SIMS >< !! Edited March 29, 2012 by Carjitsu
Daellia Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Bah, sims don't help if we don't know the underlying mechanic to program the sims with. In any case, I tested it on the PTS just now, both affect the healing done by Parasitism. Haunting Presence stacks additively with Devour, so having both will increase the healing done by 102%. Empty Body stacks multiplicatively, so having all 3 increases the total healing from Parasitism by 118.16% (so it heals for 2.1816% of your HP per crit). The healing from Death Field scales identically with those 3 talents.

Making me want to hold on to wrath proc for exclusively for crushing darkness (even if its already on CD and I am moving and could use some mobile damage lol). But mehh even at 30% crit, the critical heal from my Affliction + CD is very unnoticeable but i guess every bit helps since we are not gonna have any sort of respectable burst outside dark field (lol) as 31 madness. Robotshock Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Additional question, does force suffusion also make a benefit, like will death field heal for 10% more as an aoe ability????
pureeffinmetal Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Additional question, does force suffusion also make a benefit, like will death field heal for 10% more as an aoe ability???? Yes. 7/12/21 was my preferred pre-1.2 PVP build. The AOE you could unleash was second to none.
Cempa Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Might be interesting if wit healing it also regenerated Force.
Onager Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Yes. 7/12/21 was my preferred pre-1.2 PVP build. The AOE you could unleash was second to none. Hmm, you sure Death Field actually HEALS for more from the AE talent? I was under the impression that its input was strictly calculated by your health total, and then its final heal was modified there by talents.
Daellia Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) Hmm, you sure Death Field actually HEALS for more from the AE talent? I was under the impression that its input was strictly calculated by your health total, and then its final heal was modified there by talents. It is. However, Death Field is technically categorized as an AoE ability, so the healing from it (even though it only affects a single target) is still increased by Force Suffusion. I just double-checked it in-game (TERA downtime ;_; ). The 100% healing from Devour, the 2% healing from Haunting Presence, and the 10% from Force Suffusion stack additively with each other, and the 1% from companion affection and the 8% from Empty Body then stack multiplicatively. The equation would then be: HealingPerTarget = HP * 0.01 * [1 + (HPPts * 0.01) + (FSPts * 0.05) + (DvPts * 0.05)] * [1 + (EBPts * 0.04)] * [1 + (HComp? * 0.01)] HPPts, FSPts, DvPts, and EBPts are integer values between 0 and 2 representing your points in Haunting Presence, Force Suffusion, Devour, and Empty Body, respectively, while HealComp? is a boolean value representing whether or not you have the healing companion affection bonus. In maximum net effect, DF can heal for 2.312496% of max HP per target hit. Edited April 30, 2012 by Daellia
Onager Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I play a Mystic on Basilisk Crag. Hmm, interesting. If/when they ever have Dual Spec and I'm still actually playing SWTOR (80 some-odd days left) and I might actually get around to speccing dps on my Sage sometime, lol.
