I've met a significant amount of 12 year olds that are far and beyond more competent than most 40 year old's that I run in to. Often growing up playing video games I found that older people like 30+ did not mind me, and some of my best times were in more mature age guilds when i was little. Most likely the people giving hassle are around 17-24 years old themselves and still young by all accounts... just ignore them and find nicer people to play with. And well, at your age, my sons were not allowed to use voice chat - my 15 year old still isn't - they could listen, but not speak (for their protection, not to hide their age).
