On my balance shadow, I pve and pvp -- basically interchageably. Although I am about valor 63 now, I have adopted a strategy of keeping a large percentage of my pve gear on in pvp. Due to the existing DR curve for expertise, this hasn't seemed like a terrible decision. Sometimes I have problems with premade IMPs (expecially multiple sorcs) who focus me repeatedly, but hey, my stats are better with pve gear and those better stats seem to offset a lesser level of expertise from pvp gear.

With 1.2, I suspect this will all change because the DR curve for expertise will change. I suspect that the optimal mix might be the following:

1. switch out your pve mods/enhancements with BM or War Hero mods with the expertise gear, but maintain your pve armoring and set bonuses.

2. use as much other BM or War Hero gear as you can get for ear, implants, etc.

I suspect I will be able to get something around 15-20% expertise this way, but others in full war hero may have 250-350 more expertise (roughly 5-7%?).

I also think that using the BM/Warhero modified pve gear in pve won't hurt you in pve. Thus, all you will need to change in pve is the ears/implants etc.

Now, I'm not sure yet exactly how the armoring and set bonuses will work in the new purple sets (and whether you can move everything to augmentable orange gear), but if you can, I would eventually move to all orange.

Anyway -- please help me undertand if this approach is flawed for a balance shadow. Thanks.

Since crafting will be much more effective for high-level gear in 1.2, I would just have separate sets of PVE and PVP armor if you plan on doing both. It keeps things simpler, if more expensive initially.

Will have plenty of the 48 will/37 power mods, so I am going to start buying stalker legs for the enhancements.

If you have these mods in your orange bracer/belt stick them back in your stalker helm/gloves to add 25 expertise to them. It looks like simply putting pvp mods in orange bracer gives:

+7 endurance, +10 willpower, + 8 expertise

Have spare mods ready for your bm weapon. I am lucky enough to have augmented orange saber.

Make sure to buy an expertise colour crystal from the vendor.

You will need a fair amount of credits.

The question I have been trying to find the answer for is will the Champion/Columi items' armor and hilt mods become available to trade out or upgrade?
