Kentachi Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 Additional comment: Expertise actually increase alot with the new recruit gear and also BM gear recieve a expertise buff. Take a look: Old: Centurion-39 expertise per piece Champion-46 expertise per piece Battlemaster-50 expertise per piece New: Recruit- 69 expertise per piece BM-100 expertise per piece War Hero- 110 expertise per piece
DarkDruidSS Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Since I am not currently on the BM gear treadmill and still getting cent/champ I think I will just wait for 1.2 to buy the recruit gear. Then with the WZ comms I have saved I can at least by a BM piece or 2 after only 5 WZs haha. Thanks for reinforcing that I should focus on an alt till 1.2.

Looks to be that way unless right now you have BM gear to trade in for ranked wz items
Kentachi Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 If you dont need your regular "fix" from pvp daily then it would be best to play an alt, yeah
Hett Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 So this means my Champion gear becomes crap after 1.2?
CapuchinSeven Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) *snip* I saw my answer on the vid. Edited April 5, 2012 by CapuchinSeven
Belly Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I was led to believe recruit gear would be less than current champ gear Yeah, guess it's time to work on alts
Kentachi Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 Well actually, the recruit gear have decreased stats in general (compared to champion), but a huge buff in expertise. So in the end, it's about the same in terms of pvp.

So in the end, it's about the same in terms of pvp. Makes sense, blue items vs purple. I wasn't looking at it that way, thanks Additionally, This should inspire more pvp. Some who are worried about being ineffective due to not having any expertise can buy this gear as a starter set, and work to higher level stuff if they still like PvP. Gives a more level playing field, which is alright with me! Edited April 5, 2012 by Belly
Kentachi Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 Yeah absolutely, it's alot easier to start the pvp race. I reckon most people can afford this when they hit 50 or after a few grind days.

The rest of the items (set items) clearly show: Recruit- 69 expertise per piece BM-100 expertise per piece War Hero- 110 expertise per piece Thank you for adressing this.
Kentachi Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 Remember to save up yer commendations! Not long to 1.2 now
Banjomissen Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 From what I understand all champ. gear you have gathered will be turned into the new recruit gear. What happens to the centurion gear?
Kentachi Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 Nope, champion and centurion will stay champion and centurion. So you can actually keep their looks, if you liked it. But if you have either champion or centurion, its advisable to exchange some of it with recruit, as it got more expertise. Wont take long before you have battlemaster with theese changes though.
Space-Guerrilla Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) I, for one, am pretty upset about these gear changes... Before you know it this game will be free to play and you won't even have to buy the recruit gear you will get it just for having an account. Level the playing field? Haha...go grind like the rest of us have. You are being handed things and that is exactly what kills an mmo. The fact that people had to grind out the cent / champ gear and the new update will negate it all is pretty amazing and seemingly not very well thought out by the dev team. Why would they do this? Most likely because enough people cried and cried, and cried about it until they got their way. Sad, sad day in mmo history when this goes live...As with most mmo's; they start with such great potential but patch by patch they dismantle the game, losing subs in the process. I can think of a lot of things that should have been addressed with this game before they should have even considered making these gear changes. Edited April 9, 2012 by Space-Guerrilla
Antipodes Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Most of the PvP changes come from Bioware catering to the lowest common denominator. Yes, the transition from 49 to 50 is way too abrupt. There should be a starter set that you can buy with credits or WZ commendations that can be pre-purchased while doing lower level WZs. Battlemaster tokens should have the same treatment that they gave to champ gear (more consistency). Besides that, the PvP gear was fine. Gear progression is one of the most important factors in keeping people interested. The gear in this game already feels too formulaic and not all that desirable. Fast depreciation of the gear makes it even less exciting to obtain it.

Erm no, I don't think so, New Recruit gear is gimped on other stats. The only main difference here is the Expertise, so if you have a mix up of champ and Battle Master like I know some people have, don't think this is needed.
BRIKAR Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I have a level 29 Commando Trooper with 500 Warzone and 1000 Mercenary. First off whats going on with Mercenary Commedations ? And What should I do with the 1000 Mercenary commendations I have stocked up? Second: What should I do with the Warzone Commendations I earn as I level up? Third: What do you recommend I do as I grind to level 50 in regards to PvP? Should I just level to 50 and catch up with PvP or Should I do a couple of warzones a day while doing the daily PvP quest and leveling my toon? Thanks any advice is much appreciated.
