Drewhat Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I would like to know other smuggler's experience on their targets here? I was told not to use my AoE Flyby because it could affect others. I found myself the last one fighting. Anyone have tips or tricks for fighting the biggest guys? I also noticed my back blast blink as available during one or two of his moves, but I wasn't sure which ones they were. Anyone know if that can be predicted?
Eromy Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) Hey Pedia. ( It seems that your Ranged and Melee groupies were lazy ) Just for the record, which rotation did u use knowing that u cannot use back blast? I start with Flachete -> Shoot-first -> Pugnacity -> Vital shot -> XS Flyby -> Relics -> BW - SP - QuickShots/Sabotages while keeping Vital Shot active Edited March 26, 2012 by Eromy
Aetou Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I specced Dirty Fighting for a HM Eternity Vault run last night (usually Sawbones but we were lacking DPS and I have two full sets of good gear) and I managed to finish second - just being beaten by our Sage Healer. I opened with Shoot First & Flyby (having popped Adrenals and Relic) then stacked my bleeds and Hem Blast then pretty much just cycled Blaster Whip - Wounding Shot - Flurry - Flurry (when I didn't need to reapply the DOTs and throwing in Sabotage Charges when it was available. Of course, as a Scrapper it would have been a complete pain which is one of the reasons my Operation DPS spec is Dirty Fighting instead of Scrapper.
Shy-Nee Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 This is actually the hardest fight I've come across in ops as a scrapper, if you're on an assassin or Jugg, which is where the DPS should be, it's pretty tight if your gear matches the difficulty level you're playing on, but it is doable. My guild understands perfectly well how much of my DPS is tied to backblast, it's a ton if you think about it as it's one of our best damage abilities, only way to apply our best bleed and it's energy free, so it completely screws up our usual rotation. you have to watch your energy as it's really easy to get low trying to beat what you know is a tight timer without our usual free shot every 9 sec. That said, I've always made the timer even if I'm the last one, without using flyby, always figured it was too risky. If folks are getting away with using flyby it should be fairly easy to beat the encounter. My last run my GM Shadow took my usual assassin and put me on his marauder for the first time to see if that was better, I was the second one done and he didn't even get close, we all had to take our one hit to beat the timer, and he's geared to the hilt. So it's not really THAT bad, it just makes us look bad. I actually wonder how much of the "scrapper PVE DPS sucks" mentality in some guilds is related to ignorance of the difficulty with this encounter, I've never felt like my DPS was weak in PVE elsewhere, and this is the most visible DPS race between classes in the game.

Most of the scrapper DPS sucks crap comes from this very forum and peoples vast ignorance. They say Guardian DPS sucks too, and it's actually pretty damn good, just very gear dependant. Some of the other arguement is 'utility' Y U NO TAKE SENT FOR MORE INSPIRATION?? Battle Rez and the ability to dispel bleeds is a nice plus, you can also throw a heal in a pinch. There is nothing in this game that requires you to min/max, including Nightmare. Scrappers are designed to DPS and we are not very bad at it.

Our guild has never done that. We generally put the healers on the assassins and tanks on the Jugs. Although occassionally we switch the main tank to take Kahesh if that healer is having issues.
